When I was growing up, Reader’s Digest was allocated that function:
As a child, I usually read the magazine outside of the bathroom, but previous copies were sometimes available there. The magazine was effectively bankrupt in the 2010’s.
About 10-12 years ago when I finally got a decent scanner, I did a paper purge of all that old stuff, but scanned the statements before shredding them.
*immensely* valuable when it came to putting dates on pictures.
Plus I like being able to show my kids my first paystub from McDonalds in 1978. (11 hours worked, net pay $26.48. Paid $1.90 in FICA.)
I’m glad I’m not the only one. Thanks!
This is so great! Not only for the memories, but the insight into family members. I would like to try this, as my kids/grandkids are foregoing facebook and other social media as too intrusive into actually living their lives.
I love the idea of a family newsletter. Your post is a perfect fit for this month’s theme.
I’m really liking this Memories series. Lovely post.
