Clarence Thomas Slams Biden-led Confirmation Hearings in Documentary: ‘The Idea was to Get Rid of Me’

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has joined the chorus of criticism of former Vice President Joe Biden’s handling of his 1991 Supreme Court confirmation process, suggesting the aim of the contentious hearings was to prevent him from reaching the bench.

In a soon-to-be-released documentary, entitled Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words, Thomas took aim at Senate Democrats and then-Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Biden, who headed his confirmation hearings, though he did not reference the now-2020 presidential candidate by name.

They tried to destroy this guy. They couldn’t and we’re all the better for it.

I don’t have a lot of heroes in my life, but Justice Thomas has been one since his confirmation hearing and, especially, since reading his autobiography.

How many leftists who fawned over RBG, will now say it’s unseemly, even criminal, to have a favorable documentary about a Supreme Court justice?

Best judicial philosophy on SCOTUS, from what I understand. More consistent originalism than Scalia’s.

The left’s continued attitude toward Thomas says all we need to know about them, which I couldn’t even say here without violating norms.

I’ve admired him for a long time, and I’m inspired by the idea of this documentary. I hope it has the intended effect.

I continue to be amazed that two women of substantial backgrounds would prostitute themselves in front of the whole nation for political reasons the way Anita Hill and Christine Blasey Ford did. The attempted destruction of Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh by the Democrat party and its minions goes beyond appalling. That these acts were committed in the upper house of the United States Congress demonstrates that there is little or no integrity in the government, that those who would defame the current president for his dishonesty are as dissolute and lacking as the lowest vermin in our society and total hypocrites to boot. The whole thing is just disgusting!

I’ve often thought it would be interesting to teach a course where students read My Grandfather’s Son and Dreams From My Father and compared and contrasted them – they have startling similarities and differences. Both Thomas and Obama were raised by grandparents. Both were radicals in college and angry young men.

Thomas was raised in the segregationist South and his parents descended from slaves. Obama raised in Hawaii, his father an African who came to America because it offered him opportunities he could not find elsewhere in the world. Thomas raised in a religious home, Obama not. Thomas moved on from his radicalism, while Obama retained it, though successfully masking his beliefs as he entered national politics.

I’d really enjoy seeing clips of Thomas’ feedback around the nomination process, Biden’s participation in it, as part of the Democrat primary debates, and then, if he wins the nomination, as part of the presidential debates.

Still have a hard time understanding why every Democrat doesn’t suffer from whiplash, given the swings they perform, the two-faced tango, whenever something convenient passes in front of them that they can use to further themselves to power.

I get your difficulty but it is completely understandable when one bears in mind two things: namely, leftists operate by emotion more than logic and they elevate appearance over substance. So it is impossible to find logical consistency in thier positions. Neither logic nor consistency is required to reach thier positions.

This is not an attempt to slam them but simply to understand what seems impossible to understand.

I understand the why. What I do not understand is why anyone continues to buy it. It’s completely transparent. It’s stunningly obvious.

Short-term memory and the conveniences of forgetting are powerful things.

I heard Clarence Thomas speak at my daughter’s graduation from high school (a military academy in Virginia). What a remarkable man. The fact that he exists gives me hope for the future of our republic.
