Why Nobody’s Paying Attention to the Impeachment
In one video:
Dear members of the media, if you want to understand why no one cares about impeachment and minds are not being changed, watch this and understand. pic.twitter.com/TmMKLddr0k

Just so. I guess no one read them the story of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” when they were children.
But what about the next bombshell?
Someone brought up the impeachment hearings at church, saying something like, “no matter what you side you come down on politically, Marie Yovanovitch comes off as a good witness.” It wasn’t totally out of the blue, but we weren’t talking politics. I wanted to say that caring enough to watch her testimony signals your political affiliation because Republicans just see this as one more tactic to damage Trump. I didn’t say that though. No need to be politically confrontational at church, right?

They’re so clever and unique in their comments, insightful, imaginative, creative. How could they not succeed?
Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton are in charge of scouting them out.
Oh, you probably didn’t mean that kind of bombshell.
This is why Fartgate is the biggest story. Farts are funny and the impeachment is as boring as heck.
Bethany,
This is the beginning of the end, a bombshell, a turning point, a tipping point.
This is the beginning of the end, a bombshell, a turning point, a tipping point.
This is the beginning of the end, a bombshell, a turning point, a tipping point.
This is the beginning of the end, a bombshell, a turning point, a tipping point.
Hey, wait a minute. I think I’ve heard that rhythm before.
Regards,
Jim
You mean Marie Yovanovitch who answered “no” to did the President do anything illegal? That Yovanovitch??
Don’t look for it on Google/Youtube, though. You’ll get all her testimony except that part.
I gotta dump Google.
The next bombshell will signal a tipping point.
… now that the walls start closing in.
They are trying to give it credence over at the Washington Examiner though. Why are there so many traitors on ‘our side’? Could it be…. self interest?
I didn’t watch it live, but I did catch that part. It seems like that would be the takeaway. I think there’s such an appeal to the professional class that people are persuaded by credentials and demeanor regardless of the content of someone’s testimony. But these are the same people who hate Trump’s style and think it’s damaging to our “civil discourse.” I am constantly reminded of the time I was cursed at by a blond woman driving by while I put out signs for Bob McDonnell. Such civility…and that’s was 2009. Way before Trump.
How can these people (journalists) live with themselves? What does it take to be discredited? Is it even possible? In a sane world Rachel Maddow would be shamed off stage, but no . . . She’s asking questions at the debate, for the second time (that I am aware of).
Having the Wile E. Coyote explosion video bookmarked is also handy here — for the right, the entertainment value in the impeachment hearings has been watching Schiff’s revelations and the media’s reaction to them turn out not to be explosive, but to be duds, because the witnesses are always testifying to opinion and conjecture, and not to any direct evidence of a quid pro quo. And while you’d think that would be enough to get Trump-haters to watch the coverage from start to finish, a lot of them really felt burned by having the Mueller probe turn out to be nothing, and aren’t going to get emotionally sucked in again.
You pretty much have to be a fanatical Trump-hater who can’t get off having a dopamine rush at the idea of frog-marching Trump out of the White House to really get hooked on the hearings. Most everyone else is taking a been there, seen that attitude, and the result is people aren’t watching, and swing voters are becoming more skeptical of the Democrats’ evidence and the media’s breathlessly reporting each new one as bombshell. To them, it’s more like this:
I think they are still hoping for Mr. Bill goes to Washington, but they got Mr. T instead.

Funny. I guess they stopped at 2018 because if they went through the bombshells, walls closing, and Trump impeachment for 2019, it would have lengthened the video to about an hour.
Maybe this is why she got a standing O. Hehe . . .
Trump is getting more desperate with his tweets . . .
It would be interesting to see a chart showing their ratings juxtaposed against their constant repeating of these words. Maybe there’s a TV-viewing public out there who loves to hear the word bombshell.
I’ve written it here before, but once again I am reminded of the monkeys from The Jungle Book. Whatever is happening in the story, whatever the primary actors in the drama are doing, high above in the branches the monkeys scurry back and forth, spasmodically reacting. In this case the spasms are Bombshell! End of the line! Door closing! Brink! Impeachment! Nobody on the ground pays much attention.
Or a MSM that loves saying it . . .
That reminds me, I’ve been wondering: does Ricochet support embedding video clips from any sites besides YouTube? One reason I always look for clips on YouTube is that I know I can easily embed them just by posting the URL in a comment. It would be nice to give a few alternative sites equal treatment.
I’d be even happier if no embedding of videos were allowed, period. If posters give a link and sufficient reason to look at a video, that’s good enough. It wouldn’t slow down my browser when I’m using a clunky device over low bandwidth.
I’d be happy if newspapers didn’t print photos, too. Often a single word is worth 10,000 color photos.
