Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Democrats Impeaching Trump Because Orange Man Bad

Donald Trump’s haters have been demanding his impeachment since the day of his inauguration. To that end they have cast about wildly for any reason imaginable. And in the process they have attempted to criminalize the normal actions of the president.

They just don’t like Trump. The Democrats, of course, but also the NeverTrumpers, just want him gone. There have been so many attempts that it is almost too hard to list them all. The Mueller investigation, of course. Remember how Trump was going to be impeached because of the Mueller report? Remember that the next time you hear a news report about a poll showing how the number of Americans who support the president has supposedly increased since six months ago. All that means is that some Americans, otherwise known as Democrats, wanted to impeach Trump for Russian Collusion before and now want to impeach Trump for Ukrainian…something. They want to impeach Trump no matter the reason and no matter the facts.

Congressional Democrats held a vote on impeachment earlier this year because Trump tweeted about Alexandria Occasional-Cortex, Ilhan Whosemyhusband, Rashida Tableface, and the other one that no one cares about. (Spoiler alert: tweeting is not a high crime or misdemeanor).

The current impeachment frenzy was set off when a so-called “whistleblower” ratted on Trump to the intelligence community inspector general over a phone call with the president of Ukraine. The weird thing is, though, that the intelligence community inspector general doesn’t outrank the president of the United States. In fact, the intelligence community whistleblower protection act does apply to the president. Furthermore, the “whistleblower,” who ReaClearInvestigations and others have identified as an Obama holdover named Eric Ciaramella, had no first-hand knowledge of the phone call. (He’s also suspected by some of being the leaker of parts the transcripts of Trump’s conversations with the prime minister of Australia and the president of Mexico.)

But when President Trump released the official transcript of the phone call, the claims made by Ciaramella were shown to be false. We can all read the transcript of the call and the “whistleblower” complaint ourselves. Those of us who have read the transcript have more first-hand knowledge than Ciaramella did.

How many transcripts of presidential phone calls have you ever read? I’ve read one. This one. When people criticize the call, I roll my eyes. What do they know? Nothing. They have nothing to compare the call to. if they say the call was bad, all that means is they don’t like Trump. And by the way, it’s fine to not like Trump. This is America! However, not liking the president is not a reason to impeach him. I didn’t like Obama. That wasn’t a reason to impeach him.

Even when Obama made foreign policy decisions that I disagreed with, that still wasn’t a reason to impeach him. And there were a lot of those: the apology tour, cancelling missile defense to Poland, Libya, Syria, sending billions of dollars to a Iran. And, by the way, Obama withheld military aid to Ukraine. The very thing Trump is accused of — withholding aid to Ukraine — Obama did. And, Actually, Trump sent lethal weapons to Ukraine in 2017. (Something the “Trump’s Putin’s puppet” people never managed to process.)

There was nothing warmonger with Trump’s phone calling with the Ukrainian President, but Democrats don’t like him so they’re trying to impeach him.

The Democrats are making serial blunders. If they didn’t have their media champions, they would be nowhere at all.

But I contend that it’s precisely because they’ve had the media as their big brother bully, Democrats have gotten fat and flabby ( despite liposuction). When they have to operate in public, come out from behind the media curtain, the public sees them as they are and it’s pathetic.

How many debacles can they survive? The longer this goes the greater the margin of victory for Trump and company come November 2020.

Definitely two separate universes. You’re in the Democrat one. If everything they say is absolutely true, what was the impeachable offense? Trying to get the Ukrainians to investigate corruption involving Biden? Give me a break.

‘Donald Trump’s haters have been demanding his impeachment since the day of his inauguration.’

Technicality … it started before his inauguration. Before his election actually.

I know you are rooting for that. Gleeful in fact, hoping to remove a duly elected president, because you don’t like him.

There are two universes now. One, in which facts matter, and one in which emotion rules the day.

Trump has done nothing warrenting impeachment. That is factually clear. Even people who dislike him agree with that, like Paul M. and Andrew M.

So, Gary, you have picked your side. You side with Democrats. You donate money to them. You hold up Reagan as a Saint, while siding with the very sort of people (and some of the people) he fought against. You are a bundle of contradictions.

Counselor, here’s your best option to save The Republic:

There’s a Surprisingly Plausible Path to Removing Trump From Office https://politi.co/2XbJXSX

It would take just three Republican senators to turn the impeachment vote into a secret ballot. It’s not hard to imagine what would happen then.

I am pretty sure McConnell will suss any such manipulation out and crush any idiots stupid enough to try it.

Hes looking forward to a trial in order to provide maximum embarrassment to Senate Democrats in the lead up to the 2020 elections. If your going to hand a man a gun, you better be sure where he is going to point it.

The Senate needs to dismiss for the lack of due process and that it’s clearly just a political scam to affect the next election, not a serious impeachment process.

EDIT: To distract from Durham and the IG report, too.

I want to know which of the democrats campaign this Eric guy was working for because the entire nation is going to spend the entire democratic primary talking bout the millions in bribes biden took. Donald Trump didn’t make it public, Schiff did.

Either the democrats are a mostly insane beast at this time lashing out in all directions, or Trump is a supervillian.

Gary, please answer, was Taylor’s “clear understanding” that aid was linked to an investigation right or wrong given the fact that the aid was sent to Ukraine despite no investigation?

And technically he said, “That’s what I was told.” I don’t doubt that is what he was told but that is not what happened. Why should anyone care what he was told if it wasn’t true?

Taylor admitted under oath everything he heard was hearsay. He didn’t use those exact words, but the implication was clearly there. As Rush pointed out, the Democrats don’t have a semen-stained blue dress . . .

Y’all are doing a great job of convincing yourselves.

This is not going to end well for those Republicans who are defending Trump.

The defeats in 2020 will make 2018 look like child’s play.

    Trump really has no clothes.

    I wonder.

I mean I follow this type of thing, I belong to the site where I can comment on the issues of the day.

I am around a lot of political people including former State Senators and Republican electors. None of these people who care about politics are on the edge of their seats following the hearings. They catch parts of it or look for reporting but this is all kind of anti-climatic.

I just don’t know how much “normal” people are following this and how much they care. This has been going on for 3 years, there is no shock value or hook to make people pay attention.

For this to hurt Republicans an awful lot of people need to pay attention and care.

The polling heading into yesterday’s hearing does not seem to support your claim. Like 10% of republicans support this stuff and 42-44% of independents support impeachment. That is not strong enough to turn this into a Democrat win.

    Gary,

In other words, you aren’t capable of refuting anything Max has said but you’re sure you can pull off a phony impeachment of the President of the United States that will cripple this country at minimum for the next 25 years. Of course, this is a very rosy estimate. Given the obvious need for solid American leadership in the world, something that Obama could not provide and something that Trump clearly has been providing, almost anything can happen. From worldwide depression to nuclear war or even to both, anything can happen.

You aren’t concerned about the effects of your irresponsible phony impeachment fascination. Some idiotic personal gotcha is all that matters to you.

    Pathetic.

    Regards,

    Jim

I should note that Trumps investigation of Hunter Biden is based on him probably being corrupt and we have a previously established relationship with Ukraine were the President that can ask them to investigate anything if he suspects corruption. There is damn good evidence that Hunter Biden was corrupt. So where are the high crime and misdemeanor.

Last night on Breitbart News / siriusXM Patriot, Lee Smith went into detail about the corruption, poverty, and lack of decent government institutions dynamic in Ukraine. One thousand oligarchs run roughshod over that place. Poverty everywhere, but Europe needs their energy. Giving them weapons and provoking Russia over it isn’t going to help the average person over there. It was a jaw-dropping interview. Nobody has talked about this but I’m sure Trump was really worried that it was a fiscal vortx. They elected a comedian for good reason.

It’s 33rd in population and 133rd in GDP per person or something like that. There is just no damn hope for Ukraine. We would be better off worrying about something like the iron triangle in Central America.
