This Catholic Traddie’s QOTD

It’s a relief that Greta Thunberg has not yet been chosen to be a cardinal.

It comes from an essay titled Pandaro’s Box written by By Bishop Robertus Mutsaerts, Auxiliary of ‘s Hertogenbosch.

Greta is the young climate change scold that sailed across the Atlantic to deliver us from the evils of fossil fuels, plastic straws, air travel, and heating our homes during the winter months.

Whereas our vocabulary once consisted of words such as “our Mother the Church,” “hellfire,” and “virtues,” now it’s all about Mother Earth, Amazonian fires, and ecology. These points of view are not at all different from those of political parties and pressure groups.

Excellent essay from the Dutch (!) bishop.

    This line struck me:

Is there anyone left who is actually worried about saving souls?

At the Vatican these days that is a tough question to answer.

Amazing essay.  I’m pretty sure most people on Twitter don’t read the International Traditional Catholic Web Log, so he will at least be spared that.   I do think that the relationship between missionaries and imperialism deserves to be studied and its abuses documented.  But he is right that for the missionaries on the ground, I doubt it was the motivating factor and to paint all of their work in a negative light is disingenuous.  Same as with Columbus.  Same as with the history of the United States, etc etc.

    Excellent!

This synod is a mockery of the Catholic faith and worse, an expression of the lack of faith (trust) that the sacraments effect what they signify (sanctifying grace) by Bergoglio and other participants. Indigenous Amazonians can’t understand celibacy? Do they not receive the Holy Spirit at Baptism? Oh, that’s right, their priests aren’t baptizing them because that would be “cultural imperialism.”

I suggest these clerics immediately seek shelter at any sign of a thunderstorm.
