The Corruption of the Intelligence Community Under Obama Should Have Surprised No One
We’ve heard non-stop since Trump was elected that he acted in an unprecedented manner in XYZ. By contrast, Obama received rapturous coverage from the MSM. Conservatives, like yours truly, who lived in the Chicago area, were much more skeptical about him.
For example, there was the sweetheart deal he had with Tony Rezko. But especially troubling to me was when his campaign twice tried to shut down my friend Milt Rosenberg’s Extension 720 program on WGN radio. Milt had hosted this program since 1973, but he had never experienced this from any campaign.
Obama grew up politically as a Crook County Democrat. I was not in the least surprised by the IRS scandal, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, and the spying on Trump’s campaign in 2016. It was in a day’s work for Obama. What did surprise me was the extent to which McCain and company covered for him. It’s a cliche but that’s how we got Trump.

Your title’s focus on the intelligence community got my attention but probably for an unusual reason. I happen to believe that parts, at least, of the intelligence community were on the leading edge of the corruption and were likely pleased to see President Obama’s broad expansion of that corruption across the federal agencies, especially the Departments of Justice (FBI), Treasury (IRS), Homeland Security and State, and worked closely with him to accomplish that feat.
The integration of party interests and state interests is a primary feature of left wing governing. I would bet that if properly and honestly audited you would be hard pressed to separate the democratic party from Cook County or from the city of Chicago.
When Obama took power there was so much euphoria in the democrat party, the new age of partisan domination, that he thought his actions would never be examined in anything but a partisan light. So he felt free to spy on his political opponents, not just republicans, but also special interest groups and even citizens who where vocalized opposition. I would bet that when fully understood, that the Obama administration didnt just spy on Trump, but on all of the republican primary candidates.
The “Obama corrupted the [fill in the blank] Agency]” line of thinking needs to stop. This is what they do. This is who they are. This is J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI. It hasn’t changed from its founding as a secret police agency. Obama’s worldview was more simpatico with what they want to do (be left alone to operate as they see fit), but they were all there before Obama.
Yes, they were there, but they never had such freedom to act as they did under Obama/Holder/Lynch… And the Press was never as disinterested in reporting on abuses of ordinary Americans and their rights as the IRS/Tea Party, Fast and Furious/Hostility to Law Enforcement, condoning public and corporate harassment for having a different opinion, not to mention using the secret police to target one’s political opponent’s campaign!! Watergate was a third-rate burglary and a second-rate cover up compared to this! To deny it is to bury one’s head in the sand in the hope it will all just go away.
Be careful what you wish for. The new normal is the end of our republic.
