Chardonnay Grandmas Can Be Russian Assets, Too

Hillary Clinton can make ridiculous Russia claims about Tulsi Gabbard and Jill Stein without the barest of evidence and it’ll be greeted with nodding heads from ostensibly serious journalists, not to mention the years-long investigation into the Trump-Russia theory based on nothing but unsubstantiated opposition “research.”

But overall, there’s nobody I can think of in American politics who has been a bigger asset to the Russians than Hillary Rodham Clinton herself. No, I don’t mean she colluded with Russia in any meaningful sense. But Hillary Clinton has unintentionally aided Vladimir Putin in weakening the US military’s credibility abroad while sowing discord and undermining American institutions at home.

The failed Obama-era Russian Reset/”Overload,” of which Clinton was the public face, and the abasement to Putin and Medvedev in the process were an embarrassing diplomatic failure that emboldened Russia’s geopolitical adventurism. Years later, her presidential campaign actively traded in innuendo related to Donald Trump’s supposed relationships and kompromat in Russia, suggesting that Trump was knowingly receiving assistance from Vladimir Putin to win the election. She undermined the FBI and other federal institutions’ credibility as she colluded with the Obama administration to use uncorroborated material to harm Donald Trump’s campaign, and to this day continues to spew drivel alleging her current and former political opponents are Russian assets.

It’s hard to believe that anything pleases Vladimir Putin quite like Hillary’s debasement of American diplomacy, institutions, and law enforcement. Clinton instilled an outsized fear of Russia in a compliant media and, sadly, a significant portion of the nation that has been taught to accept what CNN and MSNBC hosts tell them as fact. Hand-wringing about Russia is now an important partisan signal for nearly half the country. For a man like Putin, whose domestic political iconography has leaned heavily on an image as a strong paternalistic figure, the fact that half of the most powerful nation that has ever existed lives in terror of him can only boost his standing.

Trump’s rhetoric around Russia leaves much to be desired (not to mention his humiliating performance at the Helsinki summit). But Clinton has enabled Russia’s behavior and undermined American institutions while she has held office, sought office, and supposedly retired from office.

I thought she might make a credible try for the nomination but this is just crazy.  She must have been drunk or demented.

Mike Viola: I don’t mean she [Hillary] colluded with Russia in any meaningful sense.

There was that time she signed over America’s uranium supply to Russian control.
And that time her hubby took $500,000 to give a short speech to some Ruskies.
And her promise to destroy America’s oil/gas industry.
And all that Russian oligarch money donated into her Clinton Graft Initiative fund.
It could be argued that the Libya debacle was done to help Putin.

It’s hard to believe if things had gone differently, that she’d be in the Oval office – thank God we were spared that.  She and her husband have a lot to answer for, whether in this life or the next.  She doesn’t seem to be thinking about atonement.

I have to disagree.  I think the case for her colluding with Russia is striking.

First the Clinton Foundation took millions from Russian oligarchs during her  tenure as Secretary of State.   Bill got a 500k check for a single speech in Russia.   2,5 million was donated by Uranium One ( after being purchased by Rosatom).

Second her use of a kitchen server to bypass the official email of the State Department a willful and illegal act, (despite what that toad Comey said) exposed a number of classified emails to Russia and just about every other countries security services.

Finally her campaigns shenanigans in trying to make up dirt on Trump through the Steele “dossier” and some legal front companies put them in indirect contact with Russian and other foreign sources.

Looking back over her entire career, Hillary has been mentally ill of decades. From the “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy” to the Russia Hoax… She’s at least a paranoid.

    Vase right wing conspiracy?

    Mike,

This just in from the Babylon Bee:

Asylum Orderlies Return Hillary Clinton To Padded Cell Disguised As Oval Office

After the failed presidential candidate had escaped from the premises again and accused thousands of people of being Russian agents, orderlies were finally able to catch her and guide her back to her cell. She had escaped through the ventilation ducts, apparently, and quickly gave deranged interviews in which she seemed not to understand that she hadn’t won the 2016 election. She also found a smartphone and tweeted troubling things, causing asylum personnel to put out a call for her safe return.

    Shocking yes shocking.

    Regards,

    Jim

Sheer logic alone makes Hillary Clinton Putin’s choice for President.  The fact she didn’t win shows Russia’s inability to flip election results . . .

That didn’t happen. this story was very much distorted.

I awake everyday thankful that Ms. Clinton is not our president. But in no way is she intent on damaging America or the American presence in the world.  While I disagree with many of her world views, and her approach to them, she was not a danger to the US.

I never did understand the “reset” with Russia, except as a shot backwards at Pres. Bush. But I have disagreed with every president in my time from Kennedy to Trump on several issues of foreign policy.

Oh yes, it was very real. I was part of it. But it was totally out in the open.

And any conservative who was not part of the conspiracy should be slapped.

Indeed. Having held a security clearance at one point, I live daily at the edge of outrage over her private illegal server as the frigging Secretary of State!  She was the perfect Russian asset, having compromised herself so thoroughly and exposing herself to vast oceans of extortion by America’s enemies had she become president. She sold this country out for personal, political gain. Full stop.

We didn’t dodge a bullet in 2016. We dodged a Russian nuclear warhead with “USA” inscribed on it.

    Agree in spades.

By the way, it would seem that she is inching closer and closer to getting into the race. Hilarious. Is it a little snarky to say that I am dying to ask @GaryRobbins who he’d vote for when presented with….the same binary choice as last time?

    McMuffin, anyone?

So, the Chinese reading her emails was OK ?  The casual approach to secrecy  by NeverTrumpers is astonishing.

Politics is not a conspiracy. She always seems to have thought that anyone who has policy disagreement with her is a conspirator.

I liked Tulsi’s recent comments on Hillary… Queen of corruption and embodiment of rot…

It struck me this morning that of course Hillary is hinting at another run for the presidency. She and Bill get paid for being actually or potentially powerful. The well at the Clinton Foundation ran dry when Hillary lost the election: if she keeps saying “yeah, I’m going to run!” the more credulous individuals, organizations and nations (or those with money to burn) will start writing checks again.

That’s why Chelsea has to get into politics too. Influence peddling is the Clinton family business.

I think that’s right, but even these idiots with deep pockets and socialist tendencies may eventually catch on. Or, at least find themselves entranced by a new, better lefty candidate.

I think it has more to do with fear of the White Witch who never dies for good, but always comes back.
