Uncommon Knowledge: Kennedy, Roberts, & Kotkin Discuss The Big Three Of The 20th Century: FDR, Churchill, & Stalin
Accomplished historians David Kennedy, author of Freedom from fear; Andrew Roberts, author of Churchill: Walking with Destiny; and Stephen Kotkin, author of Stalin: Waiting for Hitler discuss why the peaceful new international order that Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin agreed to establish after crushing Nazi Germany turned instead into each of the Allies pursuing their own national interests amid the Cold War.

Peter,
What a wonderful idea you had to bring these “big three” historians together for this. Hearing all three debate each point really was a far superior way to learn than just listening to a single monologue. If we don’t orient the new generation to the hard lessons of the past we will be asking for disaster. This gave us additional insights and made it so much more enjoyable through this lively format.
Great job. Thanks.
Regards,
Jim
I could listen to Kotkin talk for hours. Such an engaging speaker. Thank you for this, I will be sharing!
Before watching, I want to point out that a headline starting with Kennedy and Roberts puts me in a SCOTUS frame of mind. Professional hazard, I guess.
I second @jamesgawron. What an excellent idea to bring these wonderful historians together to talk about these subjects. I do not know as much about David Kennedy but Kotkin and Roberts have such knowledge. And G-d bless Kotkin for bringing in the morality of the actions. Bonus points for noting that China is Communist! It never ceases to amaze me how people ignore that the Chinese are a Communist country and what that means in dealing with them. Great, great podcast.
It’s. Not. A. Podcast.
But thanks.
Ok Blue Yeti. I hang my head in shame. Great forum?/talk?/?? Anyway it was 👍.
Wait a minute. Is that why Uncommon Knowledge is never in the podcasts?? I finally get it. I really am getting old. And also I’m trying to not use 2 spaces after my periods. 😔
