SCOTUS OKs Trump to Spend $2.5b on Border Wall

After a long court battle, the US Supreme Court gave Trump the go-ahead late Friday to use military funds for the wall. From NBC News:

The Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of President Donald Trump on Friday, allowing him to divert funds from the Pentagon to build sections of a border wall in Arizona and Texas.

Overturning a lower court decision, the ruling allows the president access to approximately $2.5 billion for the project while environmental groups fight the wall in court, arguing that the construction would produce environmental harm and would amount to spending money without the required approval by Congress.

Trump on Friday night hailed the court’s decision, tweeting: “Wow! Big VICTORY on the Wall. The United States Supreme Court overturns lower court injunction, allows Southern Border Wall to proceed. Big WIN for Border Security and the Rule of Law!”

Justices Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Kagan dissented with the decision; Justice Breyer agreed only in part. The vote was 5–4.

It makes absolute perfect sense.  The Presidents #1 job is as Commander and Chief.  The Military’s #1 mission is the defense of the homeland.   Let’s get it done.

And suddenly the Dems will insist there’s no crisis on the border. Bringing their flip-flopping into a full 360º turn now.

Great day for America! We also signed an asylum agreement with Guatemala. Now we can deport illegal aliens who falsely claim asylum after they’re caught. Real asylum seekers now have to seek asylum in Guatemala from Guatemala. It’s not possible to get into Mexico by land unless you go through Guatemala so this agreement cuts off illegal aliens coming from all of South and Central America.

Why doesn’t Trump declare a 50 yard wide stretch of the border under martial law and unspool concertina wire?

Doesn’t tell ya much.  It’s almost as though the five are just signaling to the lower courts to just knock it off with the Trumplaw.*

Most illegal aliens who are apprehended are coming from Central America, but you find plenty of South American countries represented.

Is it just me, or is it a little disturbing how far flung some of them are as well? Afghanistan? Iran? Pakistan? Turkey? Somalia? Yemen?

Or, how about those 1,077 from China?

When the judge is a member of La Raza, the shoe fits.

And, by the way, don’t believe the BS that liberals put out asserting that La Raza Lawyers and NCLR are unrelated entities. It’s a lie because they are affiliated.  I have previously posted the corporate records. It’s also irrelevant because the La Raza Lawyers have been particularly active in open borders lawfare .

Sort of.  Breyer would have partially lifted the district court stay, to allow the government to finalize the contracts but not to start construction.

John Yoo was on Fox News w/ Shannon Breem last night. I can’t find the video, but he and his fellow contributor both believed this was not over. ACLU and other States AG’s will continue filing lawsuits attempting to block further building of a border wall. My question is simply this: How does President Donald Trump have any hair remaining on his head?

From what I’ve read this is not so much new wall as to  ” replace existing sections of barrier in the states of Arizona, California and New Mexico with more robust fencing. “

Fine by me. I think some of the existing barrier is so easy to get over that it might as well not exist.

OK, I had to look.  David French used the term in May 2017, criticizing the 4th Circuit’s travel ban decision (here).

I listen to a lot of podcasts that he either does or appears on, so it’s entirely possible that’s where I got it the term.  The definition I just wrote myself although I suspect/hope it’d be consistent with David French’s usage.
