The Real Anti-Choice Police: The Left

“If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.”  Remember that gem? It feels like yesterday conservatives were asked why they wanted to stand in the way of other Americans getting healthcare. Another classic from the days of yore: “Why do you care who someone else marries?” Now, I’m a supporter of gay marriage; I’m a fan of marriage and commitment in general. But why did many Americans throw up the caution flag? Because they knew they would, in the words of Erick Erickson, be made to care. The Daily Signal has followed the story of Jack Phillips, a Colorado baker closely, showing why so many Americans expressed concern over an issue they were assured would never affect them.

With the transgender movement, we’re again asked incredulously, why we care which pronouns someone else is called. If you dare decide to err on the side of biology instead of this gender confusion, you’re a transphobe. The problem for the Left is this: They haven’t waited until they achieved total legal and societal victory before punishing those who won’t comply.

The possibilities for retribution for “transphobes” are endless, and getting longer every day. Between our kids’ school curriculums reflecting this anti-science reality, to the occupants of their locker rooms and bathrooms reflecting feelings instead of biology… this isn’t about pronouns. It’s about total compliance.

Oh, and then there’s this:

Even on the small things, the Left just can’t let it be. Even plates have to comply with “conventional” wisdom of random Twitter progressives.

What’s terrifying is Macy’s complied. This culture war isn’t just the Left vs. the Right; it’s the force of government and big business against the Right.

They wonder how we got Trump? Well, here’s the clues from just today’s news cycle.

The left has always been about pro choice, as long as you choose their choice.  And it’s more than abortion:

Private or parochial schools over public schools?  No choice, and don’t even bring up home schooling.

Private vs. government health care?  You don’t choose correctly, so we’ll make the choice for you.

You choose a gas guzzler instead of an eco-friendly car?  We’ll slap on a tax to make your choice painful.

    And on and on . . .

As has been noted many times and places, “That which is permitted is mandatory; that which is not mandatory is prohibited.”

’70s: “People should do what they want, so I’m going to let my freak flag fly!”

’10s: “You should do what I want, so you have to help me fly my freak flag.”

The fall of the Soviet Union showed that systems of Central Planning did not work. So the left switched to the third way where government ‘smoothed over’ capitalism. But once people forget the Soviet Union the left goes right back to central planning.

The point isn’t human flourishing because human flourishing always has a strong capitalist center. The point is control. The observable phenomenon that control doesn’t lead to human flourishing is irrelevant.

    Those plates are funny.

    Humor leads to fascism.

Yeah, I notice that the Tweeter advocated that the plates be banned (use of government force). The Tweeter was did not make a reasoned appeal to Macy’s about why it might not be in the best interests of Macy’s to market the humorous plates. No, the government must prevent Macy’s from selling those plates.
