AOC accuses Pelosi of racial discrimination

This is really getting interesting. The Democrat party, known for both its odd amalgam of special interest groups and its remarkable ability to coordinate these different groups into lockstep support of ever-increasing leftism, seems to be coming apart. I’m sure Donald Trump and some others would like to take credit for this, but it appears to be more of an attempted suicide than an attempted murder. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

The accusation of racism is pretty much the most vicious attack one can wage against someone in modern America, and for one leftist to attack another leftist in that way really is ruthless. And extremely unusual. I doubt that AOC understands the irony of her accusation, considering the racist background of the Democrat party in the not-too-distant past, but Pelosi probably does. I’m trying to feel sorry for Pelosi, or at least avert my eyes from this humiliating spectacle, but I just can’t. A few years ago, I thought Bernie Sanders was an entertaining old crackpot. But look what he hath wrought! What do you think? Can Pelosi hang on? Or is the Democrat party about to be officially renamed the American Socialist Party?

For the record, I’m not sure how much this matters. The Democrat party has been going as far left as it could for decades, and that line keeps moving further and further left. I’m sure that it will continue to do so, no matter how this turns out. But perhaps I’m wrong – this could be serious. What do you think?

It’s just hard, so terribly hard, to watch the Democrats eat one another.

Apparently someone else thinks so. . .his name is on the tip of my tongue. . .Lump? Bump? Frump? . . .what is it?

Any thoughts about this? Trump defending Pelosi?

President Trump on Friday criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) amid a dispute between the freshman congresswoman and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

The president came to Pelosi’s defense when he was asked about the simmering feud as he left the White House for fundraisers in Wisconsin and Ohio.

“I think Cortez is being very disrespectful to somebody who’s been there a long time,” Trump said, chastising the first-term lawmaker without using her full last name.

“I deal with Nancy Pelosi a lot and we go back and forth and it’s fine, but I think that a group of people is being very disrespectful to her,” he continued. “And you know what, I don’t think that Nancy can let that go on.”

Ocasio-Cortez “should treat Nancy Pelosi with respect,” he added.

Of course, with all the other dumb stuff he tweeted, Pelosi is now defending the Gang of Four.  Who have now held a press conference whining about the tweet.  My favorite line from AOC “We’re not going to take Trump’s bait.”

    Pelosi will be taken down.

Any effort to take Pelosi down will look like Pickett’s Charge in the end.

Time will tell. The Democrat party is going hard left and Pelosi cannot continue to lead it because she isn’t extreme enough. She will reap what she has sowed. She moved the party towards hard socialism (i.e., with Obamacare) Now it is continuing to lurch into full on communism. She will be one of the useful idiots.

I believe Pelosi wants the hard-core socialism people like AOC advocate.  The dispute is over who is in charge of it, and Pelosi wants her hands on the reins, not AOC . . .

If she isn’t defeated in 2020, just wait until 2021 when the New York Legislature redistricts New York which is due to lose two seats. One seat will be wiped out in New York City, and one seat will be wiped out upstate. Expect AOC’s seat to be wiped out and divided among four or five other districts, and her to be forced to fun against one of several seasoned legislators.

Very astute observation. I still think she’ll lose in the primary, but it never hurts to have a backup plan . . .

I am guessing that losing all of those jobs that Amazon was going to provide will not endear her voters to her.

Or the Democrat politicians who worked hard to come up with the carrots to lure Amazon there.  They will make sure AOC loses, but we won’t see the end of her:

    1. Teaching gig somewhere
    2. CNN or MSNBC political analyst
    3. Book deal
    4. TV movie (starring a heavily made-up Joy Behar)

AOC is a physically beautiful woman, but she puts me in mind of the old Frank Zappa/Mothers of Invention lyric:

What’s the ugliest part of your body”

What’s the ugliest part of your body?

    Some say your nose.

    Some say your toes.

But I think it’s your mind!

Wow!  A Frank Zappa fan here on Ricochet.   That song happens to be from what I think is Zappa’s greatest album “We’re Only in it for the Money,” in which the album cover is a spoof on the Beatles Sgt. Pepper album cover, depicting Zappa and the band in Monty Python-like drag attire.  My favorite song is “Let’s Make the Water Turn Black” which is a biographical narrative that refers to some disgusting episodes in Zappa’s childhood.  Not quite Beethoven, but I like it nonetheless!
