AOC accuses Pelosi of racial discrimination

This is really getting interesting. The Democrat party, known for both its odd amalgam of special interest groups and its remarkable ability to coordinate these different groups into lockstep support of ever-increasing leftism, seems to be coming apart. I’m sure Donald Trump and some others would like to take credit for this, but it appears to be more of an attempted suicide than an attempted murder. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

The accusation of racism is pretty much the most vicious attack one can wage against someone in modern America, and for one leftist to attack another leftist in that way really is ruthless. And extremely unusual. I doubt that AOC understands the irony of her accusation, considering the racist background of the Democrat party in the not-too-distant past, but Pelosi probably does. I’m trying to feel sorry for Pelosi, or at least avert my eyes from this humiliating spectacle, but I just can’t. A few years ago, I thought Bernie Sanders was an entertaining old crackpot. But look what he hath wrought! What do you think? Can Pelosi hang on? Or is the Democrat party about to be officially renamed the American Socialist Party?

For the record, I’m not sure how much this matters. The Democrat party has been going as far left as it could for decades, and that line keeps moving further and further left. I’m sure that it will continue to do so, no matter how this turns out. But perhaps I’m wrong – this could be serious. What do you think?

AOC will never know what hit her.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see her be reassigned to the Agriculture and Veterans Affairs Committees which have little to nothing to do with her urban district.

Congressmen have (a) issues which need to be resolved with actual legislation and (b) issues which are just eyewash, posturing, base-stirring, news-cycle-grabbing BS.  The “Sqawd” (spelling change in case Liz Warren joins) is utterly useless with (a) and diminishes the party’s returns on (b) by going over the top or to extremes.  Even in the Age of Trump message discipline matters.

Well written and pertinent topic about the Democratic Party.

I find it interesting that more of my friends who are still delusional and influenced by all things Left of Center are more  often than not, praising Trump. (“I still hate him, as he’s an arrogant bloviating philanderer, but I loved his grounding the Boeing Max airliners.” Or: “I still hate the man, but I liked getting a tidy savings on my 2018 income tax.”)

In recent months, Pelosi made the statement that Donald Trump’s extreme measures on the border indicate that he wishes to return the nation to being an “all white nation.” Trump’s extreme measures are not any different from what Barack Obama or Bill Clinton’s philosophy and actions were. In fact Obama deported at least 1.2 million people in 2010.

Additionally I have no idea when this all white nation existed, other than in Pelosi’s imagination. When white people arrived, the Native Americans were here. There also was a major cultural and political difference between  the English settlers, and the French settlers. These differences  culminated in  the French and Indian War in the mid-1700’s over whether the French or English empire would hold sway over the New Land. And after that issue was resolved, we “white people” fought the British.

So even if a person wants to overlook the Native Americans, and also the two million African Americans who were enslaved, it still is significant that throughout our nation’s history,  major conflicts both culturally and politically existed among white people. Even in the 1970’s, if a white Irish lass from the south side of Chicago was dating a Jewish guy from the north side, both families were usually upset over it!  Same went if a Polish Catholic  dated a Scandinavian Protestant. The families might not use ethnic slurs, but a refrain of “Surely you can do better” would be brought into the discussion.

However  Pelosi overlooks history. The past thirty years of life in California has allowed for the various ethnicities from both south of the border and from the Far East to take over. With the latino population mushrooming due to extending visas and simply remaining underground, often with the help of well to do employers, and the rise in immigration from Hong Kong, Korea, Vietnam and many places across the Pacific, whites are now a 44% minority of the state’s population. Meanwhile Pelosi  has clearly indicated that anything but open borders means we are a racist, whites only society…

How even AOC could expect her to be more screwed up than that, I have no idea. But I guess that those who are  Almost Absolutely Crazy can be despised by those who are Totally,  Absolutely Cra Cra!

I try to avoid reading about AOC or listening – she was a waitress – she’s a freshman Congress person. She shows little respect for anyone, and I don’t think she knows beans. The same with the Omar woman. They are radical and if this is where that party is going, I’ll take the old dogs any day. You have to wonder about this with these radical women in Congress – their attitudes – the woman from Hawaii, they all have this very sour, very aggressive demeanor. Is there big money and power behind them?

I would love to minimize her abilities. But, one must give the she-devil her due. She is articulate and goes a good job of tooting the socialist horn while saying many factually ignorant things (which the Democrats would call “lies” if said by the President). She has earned (yes, earned) a good reputation in Congress as a tough, incisive questioner of committee witnesses. These things will tend to make her a tough opponent eventually, after (if) she gets past her incessant Congressional immaturity and making enemies in her own party. Especially, making an enemy of the House Speaker. That is dumb behavior (for which I am thankful).

More importantly, what might appear to be ignorance masks her intent to radically shift the political discourse radically. She is succeeding and we would be fools to ignore her.

It is a mistake to underestimate one’s enemy.

I take her seriously, not literally

The real world has bit little Miss Bartender on her ass. She thinks she’s the first person who ever rode a crest to Washington and then found out about a little thing called the “seniority system.” It frustrated the Tea Partiers and caused many of them to break their pledges of self limited terms.

Freshmen in the House are the crap the leadership of both parties scrape off their shoes at night. Miss Bartender thinks she can play the race card and be “special.” But at the end of the day, no matter how many network cameras she’s used as sex toys, she’s still one of 435, with 176 people in her own party that was in line before her. Poor baby.

Nancy loses to republicans from time to time too. She’s not invincible. Having granted the premises of progressivism, she is vulnerable to someone like AOC until she finds a way to counter those premises.

Once the accusation of “racist” is leveled, she will be in a tight spot to deny it. That’s how it works.  If she survives, then her argument can be used by all that get likewise accused.

Any thoughts about this?  Trump defending Pelosi?

President Trump on Friday criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) amid a dispute between the freshman congresswoman and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

The president came to Pelosi’s defense when he was asked about the simmering feud as he left the White House for fundraisers in Wisconsin and Ohio.

“I think Cortez is being very disrespectful to somebody who’s been there a long time,” Trump said, chastising the first-term lawmaker without using her full last name.

“I deal with Nancy Pelosi a lot and we go back and forth and it’s fine, but I think that a group of people is being very disrespectful to her,” he continued. “And you know what, I don’t think that Nancy can let that go on.”

Ocasio-Cortez “should treat Nancy Pelosi with respect,” he added.

And very clever.  Nothing makes Democrats more crazy than anything Donald Trump does.  This causes cognitive dissonance.  I assume it is furtherance of the strategy of maintaining the political viability of AOC and her pals.  The more prominent they remain, the better for us.  That’s why Pelosi is so desperate to quash them now.

Remember, Pelosi doesn’t mind if AOC and the gang call Republicans bigots and racists.  What upsets her is if they do it to fellow Dems.  She also doesn’t like the crazy proposals like the Green New Deal, not because she disagrees on substance, but because it’s bad political tactics to talk about things like that publicly.

Three thoughts that popped into my head.

One, Trump has been the target of some unfair criticism and he may honestly sympathize with Pelosi. Pelosi is on the wrong side 90+% of the time, but that doesn’t necessarily make her a racist.

Two, I remember a line from the old Maverick TV series: One of the best things you can do is get in a crooked poker game and play honest, IF you know what’s going on.

Three, Trump is just having fun watching Democrat and Never-Trumper heads explode at the thought of him defending Pelosi.

One more thought: I really have no idea what Trump is doing here.

    Pelosi will be taken down.

Any effort to take Pelosi down will look like Pickett’s Charge in the end.

Time will tell. The Democrat party is going hard left and Pelosi cannot continue to lead it because she isn’t extreme enough. She will reap what she has sowed. She moved the party towards hard socialism. Now it is continuing to lurch into full on communism. She will be one of the useful idiots.

This is the factor that influences me the most with the concept of MAGA. When many criticize the MAGA effort as trying to take America back to the fifties before de jure racial segregation was undone, they totally miss the point. But the reason it misses the point is that the racism charge is communist propaganda at its best. In the fifties, Communism was the enemy, and propaganda was a major weapon in its arsenal.  Nancy Pelosi is being overwhelmed by the communist movement’s latest effort to takeover America. I think anti-communism needs to be a major piece of Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign in every state of the Union.

If she isn’t defeated in 2020, just wait until 2021 when the New York Legislature redistricts New York which is due to lose two seats. One seat will be wiped out in New York City, and one seat will be wiped out upstate. Expect AOC’s seat to be wiped out and divided among four or five other districts, and her to be forced to fun against one of several seasoned legislators.

Very astute observation. I still think she’ll lose in the primary, but it never hurts to have a backup plan . . .

I am guessing that losing all of those jobs that Amazon was going to provide will not endear her voters to her.

One would think so.  But seems to me these folks never allow facts to get in the way.
