AOC accuses Pelosi of racial discrimination

This is really getting interesting. The Democrat party, known for both its odd amalgam of special interest groups and its remarkable ability to coordinate these different groups into lockstep support of ever-increasing leftism, seems to be coming apart. I’m sure Donald Trump and some others would like to take credit for this, but it appears to be more of an attempted suicide than an attempted murder. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

The accusation of racism is pretty much the most vicious attack one can wage against someone in modern America, and for one leftist to attack another leftist in that way really is ruthless. And extremely unusual. I doubt that AOC understands the irony of her accusation, considering the racist background of the Democrat party in the not-too-distant past, but Pelosi probably does. I’m trying to feel sorry for Pelosi, or at least avert my eyes from this humiliating spectacle, but I just can’t. A few years ago, I thought Bernie Sanders was an entertaining old crackpot. But look what he hath wrought! What do you think? Can Pelosi hang on? Or is the Democrat party about to be officially renamed the American Socialist Party?

For the record, I’m not sure how much this matters. The Democrat party has been going as far left as it could for decades, and that line keeps moving further and further left. I’m sure that it will continue to do so, no matter how this turns out. But perhaps I’m wrong – this could be serious. What do you think?

Democrats will reunify for the main election. They hate Trump and Republicans more than they hate each other.

They will unite much as we have on Trump (though don’t underestimate how much the Democratic Socialists hate the DEMe), but it’s where they do from a policy and, more importantly, from a rhetorical perspective that has Pelosi concerned.  She is smart to try to bring this to a head now, rather than wait until 2020.  The unknown in the mix is who the nominee will be, and whether they align with the AOC or the Pelosi axis.

Do we have substantial numbers of Independents and ‘moderate’ Democrats who might yet move to the Right instead of joining in a movement that is obviously headed far-Left?

I think so.  I know some who are appalled at how left all the potential D nominees are.  The question is whether they can get past their personal revulsion about Trump.

I found morbidly amusing the comments by Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-Mo.) that Ocasio-Cortez and her staff and her fellow junior “Justice Democrats” were “juvenile.” https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democrat-blasts-ocasio-cortez-pelosi

Rep. Clay said it was “unbelievable” that Ocasio-Cortez’s office would make the racism claim. No, it is not “unbelievable.” The Congressional Black Caucus (of which Rep. Clay is a member) and its fellow-travelers have taught the people of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s generation to claim “racism” any time things don’t go their way. Rep. Clay – you taught Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to exhibit the juvenile behavior of blaming racism for everything, and so you have no standing to complain about it.

And in Speaker Pelosi’s remarks broadcast today she said America is part of a global community with no right to hinder migration and so we are no longer a sovereign nation.

AOC will never know what hit her.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see her be reassigned to the Agriculture and Veterans Affairs Committees which have little to nothing to do with her urban district.

In 2020 a far left, but uncrazy, Hispanic person will run against her in the primaries.

If she isn’t defeated in 2020, just wait until 2021 when the New York Legislature redistricts New York which is due to lose two seats.  One seat will be wiped out in New York City, and one seat will be wiped out upstate.  Expect AOC’s seat to be wiped out and divided among four or five other districts, and her to be forced to run against one of several seasoned legislators.

Do NOT mess with Nancy Pelosi.

As to the specifics of the four junior female whiners, I suspect that in the end they won’t get far because I hope the general public has seen (or soon will see):

    Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is ignorant, probably not very bright, and rarely makes a coherent statement;

    Rep. Omar is an ungrateful person – constantly hating on the country that literally saved her from a life of slavery;

Rep. Talib is an angry and nasty person whom no one can like.

(I don’t know enough about Rep. Pressley to comment.)

On the other hand, the public does not generally like the Speaker of the House (Pelosi) giving advice to people who have broken the law as to how to avoid the consequences of so breaking the law (Pelosi advising illegal immigrants how to avoid ICE detention).

So, the public may (and in my opinion should) become disgusted with the whole lot of them and decide none of them deserve to hold public office.

    There’s a well-known adage:

“Old age and treachery beats out youth and enthusiasm every time.”

I’ll put my money on that stuttering old warhorse, Pelosi . . .

It won’t even be close.  Pelosi will be taken down. Once the democrats accepted the premises of the intersectionalists, this was guaranteed to happen.

AOC won’t be the leader of the party.  She doesn’t want to be. She is the agitator that enables a future communist takeover.

She actually made a good point … once. After the Green New Deal was announced and got a lot of criticism, she was asked about that criticism. Her response was more-or-less that she had “started the discussion”. Her critics, she said, had no ideas of their own and could do nothing except take cheap shots (<– True, BTW). Then she said, “Until they come up with their own ideas, I’m the boss.” I think she’s taking her once-in-a-lifetime chance. She’ll lose, of course, but in a sick sort of way I admire her willingness to go for it.

I’d say you may be right.  Pelosi has been down this road before.  AOC hasn’t.

And after looking at other socialist governments, AOC may think, “I’m the most vicious, ruthless $#%&@ in this Congress – I’ll end up in charge!”  But I suspect Gary may be right.  If AOC thinks she’s more vicious than Nancy Pelosi, she has another thing coming.

And Pelosi IS the establishment.  Hard to fight upstream, babe.

BHO…pass one piece of signature legislation that has clearly been a failure by any practical measure.

The impractial measure is pretty widely used though; it would have been perfect if the Republicans hand insisted on things that ruined it for everyone.

That’s right. Despite being in the minority, we managed to sabotage it entirely.

America would almost certainly benefit from a realignment of political parties. The assumption has been that the Reps are the most fractured, but lo – and, moreover, behold! – the Dems also got the disease.

Sanders supporters got behind Clinton after she stole the nomination. Most Democrats will vote for the winner, even if they continue to complain.

Though not my expectation, there’s a possibility that a fractured DNC would not benefit the Right.

Thugs and vandals like Antifa, BLM, and speech-suppressing mobs are tolerated by mayors, granted cover by politicians, and praised by idiots on TV. Ocasio-Cortez is just the sort of rebel without a clue who attracts such revolutionary wannabes.

If Cortez and kin are humiliated by DNC leadership and feel outcast from influence, reckless rhetoric might broaden the appeal of mayhem and intimidation.

I try to avoid reading about AOC or listening – she was a waitress – she’s a freshman Congress person. She shows little respect for anyone, and I don’t think she knows beans. The same with the Omar woman. They are radical and if this is where that party is going, I’ll take the old dogs any day. You have to wonder about this with these radical women in Congress – their attitudes – the woman from Hawaii, they all have this very sour, very aggressive demeanor. Is there big money and power behind them?

I would love to minimize her abilities.  But, one must give the she-devil her due.  She is articulate and goes a good job of tooting the socialist horn while saying many factually ignorant things (which the Democrats would call “lies” if said by the President).  She has earned (yes, earned) a good reputation in Congress as a tough, incisive questioner of committee witnesses.   These things will tend to make her a tough opponent eventually, after (if) she gets past her incessant Congressional immaturity and making enemies in her own party.  Especially, making an enemy of the House Speaker.  That is dumb behavior (for which I am thankful).

I am no scholar on the French Revolution and the Terror, but what I know of it seems very familiar in the present context.  The left, as is the normal for them, is eating its own. Robespierre sat atop the revolution until he, literally, lost his head. Pelosi will likely beat AOC in this current battle, but she will, inevitably, be dethroned and the looney tunes will take control. AOC is just the first thrust of a growing stupidity, immorality, and arrogance which are the hallmarks of the left.
