One Cool Four-Star General!
U.S. Air Force Four-Star General George Babbitt played with The Ventures when they first began! It’s fun to hear “Walk, Don’t Run” and watch him as he revels in the opportunity to play with them 38 years later.
We also have a chance to see a high-level military man, who could seem formidable in his uniform, as a man who had a real life, who played music as a teenager, drums no less, and could show his delight in being with his boyhood friends.
So sweet.

Cool! Did they play the Star-Spangled Banner first?
I don’t know, but I wish they had!
Here’s more on the general.
What a great clip. :-) The general must have a drum set in his garage still. :-)
That big smile says it all! He musta’ felt like he was 17 again.
That’s what grabbed me, too! I loved seeing a general in uniform in a rock band, but the ear-to-ear grin was such fun!
My father has been a huge Ventures fan since they broke out, has lots of their albums around in multiple formats since he rarely dusts off his turntable anymore.
Thank you, Susan!
