Trey Gowdy and the FBI Transcript That Changed His Mind

Some people are saying that the Mueller report declassification process is underway Meanwhile there is a need to be waiting out the Huber Report. That should be coming out any day, although they keep finding more reasons to delay it. We can only hope that the delay is due to more evidence being uncovered instead of more redactions.

  1. Trey Gowdy said Sunday that an FBI transcript he reviewed while in Congress changed his “perspective” of the Mueller investigation.
  2. Republicans have alluded to the mystery transcript, which is believed to be from an FBI informant’s interactions with George Papadopoulos.
  3. Gowdy has previously said the transcript is a potential “game-changer” in terms of the public’s opinion of the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign.

Republicans have hinted at the existence of a transcript that contains exculpatory information for Papadopoulos, who the FBI claims was the catalyst for its counterintelligence investigation of the Trump campaign.

Papadopoulos had encounters with several mysterious figures during his stint on the Trump campaign. He met Maltese professor Joseph Mifsud, Australian diplomat Alexander Downer, and Stefan Halper, a former Cambridge professor who was identified as an FBI informant in 2018. (Related: “Gowdy: FBI Has Transcripts That Are A ‘Potential Game-Changer’ In Russia Probe.”)

Gowdy, who served on the House Intelligence Committee before leaving office in January, said in a May 19 interview on Fox News that the public would likely see the transcript as a “game-changer” if it was ever released.

The meeting on May 6th, was NOT a meeting with Australian Ambassador Alexander Downer. That meeting did not happen until May 10th. The recent release of documents from Australia confirm this timeline.

The meeting on May 6th was between George Papadopoulos and Downer’s aide, Erika Thompson: …”that the Trump campaign had received information from the Russian government that it could assist the campaign through the anonymous release of information that would be damaging to Hillary Clinton.”

    So, if the U.S. used the information from the May 6, 2016, meeting as conveyed on July 26th, 2016, it was the conversation with Erika Thompson that opened Crossfire Hurricane; not the meeting with Alexander Downer on May 10th. {Go Deep}

This subtle but important distinction in contact and communication reconciles the statement by Devin Nunes; because Thompson is also a reported intelligence operative (spy) and information from her would not be passing through “Five Eyes” official channels. However, for their intents and purposes, the U.S. operation needed to give the appearance of official channels, so the *inference* between the claim and the footnote *implies* Ambassador Downer. But you can see that’s not actually what happened.

This is an example of Weissmann/Mueller disguising the actual origin in their report. They are giving cover to the reality that unofficial intelligence was the actual basis for the originating “EC” or two-page electronic communication from CIA Director John Brennan to FBI Director James Comey. It was that 2-page EC, likely written by FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, that initiated “Crossfire Hurricane”.

Trey Gowdy. What great hope he gave. What a complete and total disappointment . He gave a great show. Like a great book that has the last two chapters missing. Like a meal that doesn’t fill. I could go on and on and on…..

Thank you for the excellent links to the discussion over at The Conservative Tree House. I always think that site has  such decent information and unique perspectives in one place.

So here’s a question: why is it important that the Five Eyes weren’t involved? It is my understanding that the Five Eyes policy allows our intelligence people to get intel from the intel agencies of other nations inside that group, with tit for tat being in play. (Our CIA is not supposed to spy on we the civilian citizens, so it is necessary to have our CIA deal with the other top spy agencies so the CIA can get the info from those guys.)

Is it really believable that the Five Eyes were not involved? And is the involvement having to do with the release of the Hillary emails, or some other matters? For instance, with spying on Trump?

Unfortunately, this slow drawn out revelation is by design, managed by the most skilled information manipulators ever assembled(ie: the United States DOJ/FBI/IC).

Their purpose is to manage damaging information to be revealed in drips and drabs over days, months, years,  as a part of a very complex story with many twist and turns, which consists of many ancillary stories of malfeasance and possible, almost, and actual criminal acts, all far too convoluted to explain in a simple headline which in the end is designed to lead to the inevitable:  move along people, nothing to see here …..

…. But somehow the one stubborn narrative which will not go away: Orange Man Bad!

I am pleasantly surprised Nunes and Gowdy got as far as they did.  The arrogance of the deep state grew magnitudes under Obama.

Unless and until someone is indicted and agrees to rat out the rest, nothing will happen.  Compare the cautious approach of Barr to the Mueller team who were ready to charge obstruction and perjury  if you sneezed during a phone call with politicized hacks.

The congressional GOP is not usually pushy enough. Recall how Fred Thompson’s inquiry into various Clinton escapades was stonewalled and then fizzled.  Compare that to routinely jugular-seeking probes by John Dingell or Henry Waxman.  The current crop of Democrats are far more feckless even with the bureaucracy and the media behind them.  Nadler is a buffoon.

Ultimately, it is really important to prove that the law applies in the Swamp.

The trouble is, Gowdy doesn’t give us the transcript, or tell us what it says.  Just that it had a great impact on him.  Maybe it would have a great impact on me, too, if I were able to see it.

Every word you’ve typed is true.

And this is a very strong narrative: Orange Man Bad.

One of the few liberal friends I still have urged me to watch Saturday Night Live and its replays on youtube of the evening when SNL made fun of J Smollett.

So I watched a very funny send up of that lying guy who thinks he is a hero. But I left the computer running while sorting thru paperwork, and had a barrage of anti-Trump SNL skits enter my conscious being. At the end of just 20 minutes, I found myself thinking: what the hell is wrong with Trump? Why is he a bumbling fool and oaf.

And that was just after 20 minutes. I can’t imagine how much the continual months and years of news announcers, news print stories and other methods of enforcing that Trump is a stupid, narcissistic oaf who has destroyed our nation has eaten away at the brains of average Americans.

This is not a subtle but overt form of mind control. It explains why if I discuss Trump with my one liberal friend, this is no real discussion: just the mindless repetition that this is an evil, shallow narcissist whose main wish is to destroy the USA and the entire planet.

Also, I now firmly believe that they have dirt on everyone. It’s not just that people are vulnerable themselves, they know family secrets. Little sister had a secret baby at 15. Your adopted kids weren’t legitimately adopted and would be taken away if made public, your brothers adopted kids….. All kinds of things.

Notice how we never hear about the possibility of blackmail or leverage ex-post facto. Denny Hastert longest serving Republican Speaker of the House was being blackmailed by two former HS students, boys on his wrestling team, for sexual misconduct with minors for years. Deep state didn’t also know about this? ( he had had a strong conservative record, once elected to speaker, he went all squishy much to my befuddlement) I guarantee you someone was using it.  When it came out we heard almost nothing on it.

Remember Craig Livingston who worked for Hillary and Bill and the FBI files he was caught with- the vetting files.

If somebody had something on Jeff Sessions, that would explain a lot.

When the Clinton impeachment vote was imminent, Larry Flynt, the famous pornographer, tried to blackmail Republican Congressmen to vote against impeachment.  It didn’t work — it turns out Republican Congressmen have boring sex lives — but it did embarrass a couple of people, and result in one resignation.

However, one of the few Republicans to vote against impeachment was Peter King of Long Island.  I’ve often wondered if he were one of Larry Flynt’s rare successes.

Yep, I’ve long wondered about those files. What they might have wrought.

And they, or the surveillance of someone, wouldn’t have to reveal some juicy secret out of a spy novel. Only some small inconsistancy between what the target did on a certain night and what he told his wife he was doing.  That little piece of intel, meaning nothing to you or I, might be devastating to this guy’s personal relationships.  It wouldn’t take much of a thing to turn a person.

It’s only shocking if you accept his view of things as accurate. Let me explain.

His statements about events are confirmed by other sources including the alleged Rosetta Stone of the Mueller Report. Points in his favor.

His opinions about people’s motives or goals are open to question. I tend to think most of his suppositions are correct or mostly correct. But they remain unproven. And it would certainly be scandalous if the Mifsud conversation was an attempt to introduce false information to be used as a pretext to further an investigation.

Carter Page, after listening to him with Byron York, is less impressive. His whole spiel was, “If you really want to know what happened and why. Buy my book. It has all the answers.”

I’m in wait and see mode. A scandal this vast and complex takes a long time to unwind.

He was always tripping on things, but he also holds a remarkable record for surviving multiple assassination attempts.

I didn’t know this, and it makes me think that no one much cared at the time.

I only remembered Squeaky Fromme, from the Manson Family. I completely blanked on Sarah Jane Moore. (True assassins are always noted with 3 names or a colorful nickname) I also forgot the two attempts were within 17 days of each other. I think about how fortunate we were not having Twitter in the Mesozoic era.
