Great Trump 2020 Kickoff, but What About the Squirrel?!
I tuned in a little late to the official Trump 2020 Kickoff Campaign in Orlando, FL last evening. The house was packed with over 20,000 people and it appeared to be a rousing success. As it wrapped up, Fox News was running a ticker tape across the bottom screen of other important news in case you missed something. I definitely missed something.
Apparently, a man in Alabama was keeping a pet squirrel. It is illegal to keep a pet squirrel in Alabama. There’s more: He was also keeping it as an attack squirrel, and supposedly let it loose on one too many people. Someone finally called the cops.
The owner would feed the squirrel meth to keep it aggressive and ready. When the police arrived, the idiot was arrested for illegal substances … and keeping a pet squirrel. The police had to let the squirrel go, according to the ticker news, as there was no safe way to test a squirrel for meth. No – I’m not making it up!
I’m glad one of Trump’s many accomplishments highlighted this evening has been to crack down on illegal drugs! Not even a squirrel is immune these days!

I just love the Libertarian argument that people should be able to use mind/brain altering drugs in the privacy of their own homes because they won’t be a danger to anyone else. When a chemical diminishes or disables the normal functioning of the brain to make common sense, rational decisions, why in the world does anyone think that people will somehow act responsibly and not bring harm to others?
Here’s a delightful story from Pennsylvania earlier this year:
I’m sick. What are we doing to our children? Once adults like Harold and Brandy Nuse have hurt/damaged children I confess redemption takes a back seat for me. I don’t really care about whether they get life-saving ER treatment, drug rehab, etc. These two are monsters and I’d be fine if they were put out of their misery permanently. Their most important job was to protect three boys, and instead they chose to become the greatest danger to them.
Thank God for the troopers, and bless those three boys who I hope have been removed to a better environment.

Ah, the argument that crystal meth is no more dangerous if as widely available as alcohol in beer, wine and harder liquor. You keep working on that. If I drink a glass of wine or a beer every day for one month while you ingest crystal meth every day for one month, let me know what rehab center or hospital I should contact to follow up on your findings.
The Trump rally was good. Loved seeing Melania introduce Trump. My favorite line was Trump comparing what would happen if he refused to disclose an email that was a love note to Melania. A contrast to Hilary’s going uninvestigated.

Yes. What started as a nice picnic & later became a baseball game for dads & a squirrel feeding fest for moms & kids became total mayhem when two squirrels dropped out of a tree and terrorized one of our dogs. It was a mess.
I watched and do not agree. He was putting on a show, a good show, and I loved it. He hit all the negatives, those who are hindering, as well as all the positives, those who are helping him attain his goals.

No, I am not arguing that the dosages required for abuse are the same for both drugs. I will gladly grant you that meth is more addictive than alcohol. Your anecdote about the meth parents is heartbreaking, but surely you acknowledge that there are also cases of neglectful alcoholic parents who give their children alcohol. How would the argument for prohibition for one differ from the other?
You answer your own question. “I will gladly grant you that meth is more addictive than alcohol”. I would only add that it’s vastly more potent in damaging neurons and critical brain functions even when taken in small doses than similar doses of alcohol. While alcohol abuse is an unfortunate by-product of more benign and widespread alcohol consumption, especially given the vast amount of available alcohol products on the market, and should always be addressed, it pales in comparison to the neurological destruction as a result of continued use of drugs like meth and heroin which if legalized would have a devastating effect on society. The current opioid crisis should be a warning of what would happen except on a much more massive scale – where families are destroyed and children need to removed from parents to be cared for and protected by the state.
Okay, I’ve watched Trump’s address for myself now. Huge crowd/enthusiasm is not reflected in the tweet that commented on rage. The ‘negative’ was a mix of pretty standard opposing party stuff combined with calling out Democrat lunacy, of which there is plenty. He did include accomplishments in the speech. Overall impression is he has tightened it up from last campaign.
If the economy stays strong, my guess is Trump wins re-election. Seems like we barely got past the last election and here we are again.
I never ran into a squirrel that was doing meth, or a squirrel in a park with a short dog of MD 20/20 concealed in a paper bag when I was on the streets. I did arrest two legged squirrels that tried to claim intoxication was a valid defense in the commission of a crime.
