Acosta’s Courage
With journalists around the world under fire (sometimes literally) it’s been extraordinary to watch CNN reporters and anchors painting themselves as martyrs. Continuing his tradition of moaning at White House press conferences, Jim Acosta has authored a new book about “the dangers he faces reporting on the current White House while fighting on the front lines in President Trump’s war on truth.”
You cannot make this stuff up. 
Acosta is under such fire, he spent the morning… signing books.

It’s time for CNN to find poor Jim a safer gig. He could anchor CNN’s premier news program, if only they had one.
It reminds me of the whirlwind promotional tour that Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn made to hype the release of The Gulag Archipelago in the Soviet Union.
Is it an autobiography or memoir? By the self-descriptive title it seems to be.

I abhor these kind of books. And it really doesn’t matter whether it’s someone left of center or right of center. So many “Current Affairs” books are irrelevant within 18 months of publication. Do people actually read this stuff? It’s all self-involved virtue signaling. The only thing one learns is who is the target of the author’s vindictive writings. It’s all so high school. What kind of adult wants to have dinner with this guy?
You do know about the Twitter meme to retweet Acosta’s tweets beginning “Dear Diary?” His stuff is high school all the way down.
I do, but muted the phrase “Jim Acosta” long ago.
Um, I see a stack of books… I don’t see a line of people… Accidental bad camera angle, I’m sure. I mean, at least his family would be there… wouldn’t they?
Jim Geraghty (of The Three Martini Lunch podcast) is making fun of it in his Twitter feed. I think Geraghty was to have a book signing today for his novel, so maybe they can compare crowd photos.
Really?! Oh the dangers. The danger he might bruise his wrist clobbering the young female intern trying to take away the microphone he insists on holding for too long. The danger he might twist his ankle clamoring to stomp on his fellow correspondents to ensure he is in the center of the camera angle (see the book cover photo). The danger he might get a sore throat yelling over the questions of the other correspondents or yelling over the the White House press person either trying to answer his question or telling him to shut up because it’s not his turn.
Surely in the vast amount of airtime that CNN and other media outlets have given him he has said everything he is capable of saying, and everyone who might be interested in hearing what he has to say has already heard it. I can’t imagine any reason for someone to think that there is a market for this book.

Jim Acosta, where the trivial intersects with the banal producing a metaphoric fart. His book will be useful as a doorstop or a birdcage liner.
Perhaps I’m not being clear enough how I feel about Acosta. I’m holding back all my deepest thoughts. Actually, my opening sentence summed it up quite nicely.
