In the name of all that is holy, someone help me out.
I got stuck cooking today for Father’s Day (it’s usually one of the kids) and we did carne asada. Husband picked out some insane corn dish as a side. Son #2 went to the store (there’s a limit to what I’ll do – I don’t care what day it is)
Anyway, in preparing the noted corn dish, I had to cut up several jalapenos. Because I’ve been suffering from the cold from hell, I managed to get jalapeno oil up my nose. After a Dawn dish soap nose enema and a lot of hacking, I could breath again.
Then I noticed my ring finger was on fire, figured I got some oil under my ring. Removed it, washed my hands in Dawn, rinsed with vinegar, rubbing alcohol, milk, and everything else recommended and managed to enjoy my afternoon, while spending most of my time concentrating on not touching my face.
But I just did the damn dishes and now my hands are on fire …
There’s a reason I stay out of the kitchen. The only reason I’ll ever go in there again is because that’s where the coffee pot is. There should be hazard pay …
I recall a Corvette with vanity plate ” MIDLIFE.”
Hot Wheels?
Dear Miz @annefy, one thing to try (and to keep in the kitchen): Try mixing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Helps break the capsicum oleoresin. Works (quicker than anything else, but not as quick as you’d want) on skunk oil if your dog gets skunked.
And a pair of kitchen gloves.
As for the oil, my in-laws actually tried to get me to use cayenne pepper oil cream to get rid of my pain. It’s a great way to know you’re alive!
@shaunahunt, thanks. Let’s me know if I can’t find any other way to know I’m alive, there’s an “easy” button. Okay, “hot” button.
Oh, I know I’m alive! I just don’t like inflicting unnecessary pain to fix my other pain. Peppers have their place-just not rubbed on my skin. LOL!
