Uncommon Knowledge: Thomas Sowell on the Origins of Economic Disparities
Is discrimination the reason behind economic inequality in the United States? Thomas Sowell dismisses that question with a newly revised edition of his book Discrimination and Disparities. I sits down with Dr. Sowell to discuss the long history of disparities among humans around the world and throughout time.

Always great to get some new Sowell content!
“You can’t give anyone an education. You can offer someone an education.”
Typical Sowell brilliance. Another good interview, of course. Thanks.
A friendly criticism, Peter: You can suggest phrases after a quote, but don’t replace anything within a quote or add to it. Toward the beginning, you quote Sowell on IQ ceilings and change “genetic” to “racism” or some-such. But Sowell didn’t limit his argument to race. His point is as applicable to rednecks and hillbillies. But I understand why your mind went to accusations of racism.
Also, Peter, please pass on a recommendation: Sowell should devote a book to what elimination of the Department of Education would mean for modern Americans.
He noted at the end of your interview how abysmal American education has become. It not only fails to educate. It misinforms and trains harmful habits. How can we correct course on that front?
Oh gosh, my evening just got 47 minutes longer.
