Astonishing: I will never get why people think Obama is some great orator.

Mostly because they’ve consumed a diet of platitudinous speeches from actors portraying Presidents in popular entertainment which, when coupled with some soaring orchestral music here and there, reminds them that “this is inspiring.”

Well, that and the fact that every time he opened his mouth from 2006-2008 the press asked questions like:

“Is Barack Obama the best orator who ever lived by 10x the nearest man, or by 20x?”….

“Well, John, I think its closer to 20x…..”

    Ridiculous.

Is there someone less likable than a coward?  Oh, wait, I found one:

    A self-loving coward.

I can’t believe the hashtag used wasn’t #GOPShutdown.  Fire the staffer who posted that!

So, he’s in fact saying : “Retreat if you want this shutdown to end”?

Add to this his recent outreach to Iran and we can coin a new phrase:  a dhimminished presidency.

    It is an odd contradiction.

Obama is simultaneously aggrandizing the power of the presidency, (selective enforcement of the law and the like) while also diminishing the stature of the office itself.

I think VDH put it best: “Obama, the man who never was”, but hey, a majority of our people voted for him. So who is the schmuck now!?

I just a headline that reads:  “Obama to Wall Street:  You Should Be Scared.”

Great.  Just great.  The President tries to start a financial panic.

FDR: “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”BHO: “You should be scared.”In fairness, FDR was only facing an existential threat posed by the Nazis and the Japanese Empire, while Obama is facing what he thinks is a much greater threat – Republicans. Which gives one a sense of the perspective of the left.

Crank up the power, dial back the legitimacy.

(Holding ourselves to the “standard” Democrats use for themselves, is there any reason anyone, anywhere should have any respect for the law?)

At least he has a plan. Too bad he didn’t think of this last year.

Sssshhh! Don’t ruin it — I got some cash on the sidelines waiting for a purchase opportunity. My recommendation: buy into Barry’s panic dip, sell into Ben’s QE bubblery.

There is a company, the name of which is not CoC compliant so let’s just call it “Number Twitter,” which will print a twitter feed of your choice onto a roll of toilet paper. This is the only productive use of the President’s rhetoric that I can think of, maybe the Blue Yeti would be so kind as to stock the Ricochet store with a few rolls?

Budgets are like a garden. There is a season to grow…..and there’s some other seasons I’ve avoided by printing money and destroying your future for my own self-aggrandizement. As far as destroying the future, I like to watch.

Can someone send the White House a Moe Norman DVD so Obama can start working on a new golf swing?

I’m starting to think Biden’s a better bet to get a reasonable deal done.

No president should ever use the word “enemies” in reference to law-abiding Americans either.

Obama’s been a trailblazer all along.

Agreed, and it’s a great sign of what’s bad about this president’s rhetoric. But I have to share that my favorite response to this was that Ted Cruz retweeted it without comment.

He is certainly “fundamentally transforming” the stature of the presidency Rob.

    To quote Shakespeare;

In my stars I am above thee; but be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon ’em.

    While still others……

oh, there is not much I can say to that but to bury my face in my hands.

Mollie, I agree.  A re-tweet from Ted Cruz is very funny.  In fact, all conservatives should follow suit.  What better way to point out how meaningless the president’s words, however loaded he (or some random writer) intends them to be?
