Bolton to Mullahs: Don’t Even Think About It
Interesting that this was announced publicly:
The U.S. is sending the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force to the Middle East in order “to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime,” National Security Adviser John Bolton announced Sunday night.
Bolton said the deployment was in response to “a number of troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” on the part of Tehran, but did not elaborate. Such deployments are rarely announced in advance.
“[A]ny attack on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force,” Bolton said. “The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime, but we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or regular Iranian forces.”
I’m sure the DNC is drafting press releases to suggest it’s a diversion from the Mueller Report. Lefty Twitter is already saying that A) Putin told Trump to create a diversion and leave Venezuela alone, and B) this was really announced a month ago, and C) Bibi called Trump to make him do it, etc., etc.
Or — I know this sounds like crazy talk from a madman who doesn’t realize that the existence of the US is what provokes everything unfortunate in the world — the usual “chatter” turned into a deafening roar lately, and this is not unrelated to the Gaza barrage.
I know, I know, next thing you know I’ll say that steel melts.

John Bolton is the best thing to happen to US foreign policy in a long time. Trump had better keep him around for the duration, and listen to whatever he says. Then, do whatever he thinks is right.
You read that in the steel dossier, didn’t you?
On a related note, I thought this was interesting:
Your local congresswoman’s insight into this report sometime in the next 36 hours ought to be oodles of fun.
Is there a reason for this? What’s happened for this threat/response by us?
I wonder if this has something to do with it:
https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-trump-s-golan-heights-declaration-what-does-it-mean-and-what-happens-now-1.7045447
Notice Haaretz is equating Israeli sovereignty over the “conquered” and “occupied” territory of the Golan (in response to Arab aggression) to the Russian invasion of Crimea and the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
Also, the Russian involvement in Venezuela may be precipitating a more aggressive stance by the US in the Middle East. Give them something to worry about in their own damn hemisphere. 3-D chess, baby.
And, P.S., how does anyone talk about “threatening the peace process” with a straight face? I say we try war process — you know, where the victors call the terms. (That would be Israel, in case I’m not clear). Can’t be a whole lot worse — or interminable.
I heard a report on the radio that someone, I didn’t catch which mindless Dem it was, has accused US of using Gunboat Diplomacy. Imagine using such tactics to reign in a declared enemy of the US such as the Iranian Mullahs kleptocracy. Next thing you know this Administration will be actually taking action to support legitimate US interests.
That, and the salvo of tweets aimed at Chinese trade, where it hurts them, instead of at their proxy Little Rocket Man, was a nice touch.
