This is pure speculation on my part but I’ve never heard it discussed anywhere.
Aside from the Mueller Special Counsel delaying the uncovering of the Obama DOJ/FBI/IC malfeasance, the delay also took the (D)/MSM Trump Russia collusion fantasy past the 2018 midterms, thus keeping the (D) base fully engaged and damping (R) enthusiasm with assurances by the likes of Brennan, Clapper, Comey, McCabe, Schiff, Swalwell, Kristol, Robbins, etc. that there is no doubt as to the ultimate guilt of Trump colluding with Russians to win the 2016 election.
Whether or not the Mueller team purposely kept the Trump Russia collusion investigation alive until after the 2018 midterm election, well after the Special Counsel already knew there was no Trump related criminal conspiracy, would the midterms have ended in the (D) route which ensued if sometime in early to mid 2018 the Special Counsel had announced there was no criminal conspiracy.
Would the results have been different particularly the close House races in historically (R) districts.
I believe this explains why the investigation had to go on so long after the answer was known. It’s like “The flogging will continue until morale is improved.” We got what we deserved. Stupid voters.
Another motivation to extend the investigation is that a lie becomes its own truth, when repeated enough. 2 years enough as people are bored and saturated lie has been cemented into place.
The scandal is purposely drawn out, complicated, Trump associates have been indicted and plead guilty, and the Mueller memo does try to make an obstruction case so eventually, with probably more than half the Country predisposed to TDS , The Constanza Principle takes effect:
Andrew McCarthy has had a lot of criticisms of the Mueller investigation, but one that really resonates with me is when he noted that Mueller could and should have issued a interim report that there was no collusion.
Both Rosenstein and Mueller should be asked about this. Under oath. On television.
And by the way, I think the much anticipated IG report will be a disappointment.
So, forgive me if this is obvious or someone else made the point before, but….
The Muller investigation, which was about interference in the election, was timed to deliberately interfere in another election?
No. It was lagniappe.
I would surmise keeping the Mueller investigation going past the 2018 midterms was an ancillary benefit in a multi faceted ad hoc scheme to:
-conceal the Obama DOJ/FBI/IC malfeasance
-delay the discovery of the Obama DOJ/FBI/IC malfeasance in the hopes of:
– discovering actual collusion,
– discovering prosecutable obstruction of justice,
– continuing an information campaign portraying any revelation of the ObamaDOJ/FBI/IC malfeasance as Trumpy propaganda coupled with the continued MSM virtual silence on this massive scandal.
So in addition to the above, the big slow down pushed the “Trump is for sure going to prison for treason” narrative past the 2018 midterms which, with the subsequent (D) House victory, put the kibosh on the (R) House investigations and has allowed the (D)’s in the House to abandon the investigations into the Obama DOJ/FBI/IC malfeasance and go on the offensive with their own investigations in search of Trumpy crimes …. of …. the (D)’s will tell us Trumps crimes after they spend the next six years working to unearth them … maybe.
