Recommended by Ricochet Members Created with Sketch. Epic Fail: Comey, Mueller, Strzok, McCabe – Not A Few Good Men

A Few Good Men was an epic classic movie. Released in 1992, this dramatic story of a military court-martial legal proceeding was directed by Rob Reiner and starred Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson. In the end, the good guy, Navy Lawyer Lt. Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) defeats the bad guy, Guantanamo Base Commander Marine Colonel Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson). And in the story plot, it was Colonel Jessup who incriminated himself because in the words of Lt. Kaffee, I will “lead him right where he’s dying to go”. Oh, and one more thing, Colonel Jessup was actually guilty of the crime.

So … Columbo … why are you bringing up a 1992 movie in 2019, right?

I always say, what goes around comes around. Or was that Yogi Berra? Well, I don’t rightly know but what I do know is that some bad cops in the DOJ/FBI/CIA/DNI were 100% sure that Hillary Ramrod Clinton was going to be elected as POTUS in 2016 and that they were sure as heck Crossfire Hurricane going to do everything in their power to get in her good graces.

And so they concocted a plan. A conspiracy. This immoral outsider POTUS contender was not going to disrupt their cushy lives if they had anything to say about it! And they had a plan. An ingenious plan! They were Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee! President Trump was everything bad like that Colonel Jessup guy. And they were going to get him. Yes, yes, he wasn’t guilty of any crime of collusion with the Russians. Big deal. We know him. We’re going to shake him with a Special Counsel. We’ll put the screws to him, his associates and his family! And in the end, we’ll get him with Obstruction. He’ll incriminate himself, without any underlying crime at all!

From the movie …

I think he wants to say it. I think he’s pissed off that he’s gotta hide from this. I think he wants to say that he made a command decision and that’s the end of it. He eats breakfast 300 yards away from 400 Cubans that are trained to kill him. And nobody’s going to tell him how to run his unit, least of all the Harvard mouth in his faggoty white uniform. I need to shake him, put him on the defensive and lead him right where he’s dying to go.

So … fast forward to the upcoming release of this Mueller report. And the only thing these corrupt, immoral, crooked cops are saying is “obstruction, obstruction, obstruction”. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Wrong answer!

Many times life does imitate art. Alas, for these poor chaps in the DOJ/FBI/CIA/DNI national security apparatus, not this time. President Donald Trump has not imitated Colonel Jessup on this. And by the way, I know Tom Cruise. And gentlemen … you are no Tom Cruise! Just sayin’ ….

So … in this real-life story, this movie’s court scene will end at the 1:33 mark. And President Trump exits the courtroom.

Unlike, Colonel Jessup, President Trump chose not to take the bait and chose not to fall into their obstruction trap. Any guesses why Mueller chose not to rule or charge on Obstruction?! If’n I was Comey, Strzok, Rice, Brennan, Clapper, I would be staining my drawers about now. These guys were sure that after two years of a Special Counsel witch hunt that President Trump would break and he’d commit Obstruction that Mueller could charge him with!

That’s it? That’s the plan?! And how are you going to do that?

I have no idea. I need my bat.

Unfortunately for Comey, Mueller, Strzok, McCabe, Ohr, Brennan, Clapper, Rice et. al. there is no magic bat. This is going to be an epic reversal.

Even Dana Milbank writing today at the Washington Compost (yeah, he’s in denial, but), “tis the season for treason!”

I’m sorry, your time’s run out! What do we have for the losers, Judge? Well, for our defendants, it’s a life time at exotic Fort Leavenworth! And, for defense counsel Kaffee, that’s right, it’s a court martial! Yes, Johnny! After falsely accusing a President of the United States of collusion with the Russians, Comey, Mueller, Stzok, McCabe, Ohr, Brennan, Clapper, Rice …… will …………..

Perhaps you didn’t hear, but the redacted Mueller Report will be released today after Barr first does his Rebuttal Press Conference in, well, two minutes.

Your post reminds me of the football player who spiked the football on the 1 yard line, which was ruled a fumble, giving the ball to the other team on the 20 yard line.

You are expecting your readers to stop what they are doing to read [watch] an hour and 37 minute tv episode? Yes, it’s a Columbo episode, which is your moniker, but I think that folks would be a big chagrined if I suggested that they stop for an hour and 37 minutes to watch a couple Reagan’s State of the Union addresses.

But but if you have a spare 32 minutes, you might want to watch Mayor Pete at the 7:32 a.m. EDT point today on Morning Joe.

It reminds me of Any Old Port in a Storm — someone so desperate to preserve the status quo that he throws a fit with long-term consequences that, unchecked, end up ruining the thing he’s trying to preserve.

This would be a fun game — linking current events with their parallel classic TV episode. Well, fun for me anyway.

I do think Trump will leave DC and be glad to be gone, but I don’t think he will be a hero. That won’t mean he won’t have won, but I do think that he will always be a bad guy to the left and right. Nothing he does that advances conservatism, even if we have another GOP president after 8 Trump years, will ever make some people on the right happy. That has been demonstrated over an over.

I think VDH is right on this point.

Hannity has been pounding this entire affair literally for years. There is a lot of information milling about that, once it sees the light of day in a coherent manner might just make some deep-state swamp dwellers (and yes, DC is a swamp…I have family who live there) regret that they ever “colluded” against the current occupant of the White House. Years from now, we will look back and say,

Only the sort of people who say “Well done Sherman” or “Well done Patton”.

The “right thinking” people, the ones who today question the actions of LeMay and Truman, they will never say that, even if Trump were to disarm China.

From Attorney General William Barr …….

On obstruction of justice, Barr noted that Mueller “did not make a traditional prosecutorial judgment regarding this allegation” but instead “recounts ten episodes involving the president and discusses potential legal theories for connecting these actions to elements of an obstruction offense.”

Barr and deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein disagreed with some of those theories and “concluded that the evidence developed by the special counsel is not sufficient to establish that the president committed an obstruction-of-justice offense.”He also said the evidence of Trump’s “non-corrupt motives weighs heavily against any allegation that the president had a corrupt intent to obstruct the investigation.”

Barr noted that the president didn’t assert executive privilege to redact portions of Mueller’s report, although he would’ve been within his rights to do so. He said the report has “limited redactions” based on four categories: classified information, grand-jury information, information related to ongoing investigations, and details about “peripheral third parties.”

You people are not seeing the big picture. The Comey, McCabe gang was easy to get together. They had been covering up Obama and HRC crimes for years. It was easy to transition to a task. The big picture is that nobody should dare to take on the establishment. If you take on The Man, he has way of “punishing you six ways from Sunday.” They will investigate you until the find a crime. If anyone dares to work from you, they will be destroyed (Flynn, Manafort). There is no hiding, there is just dawn raids by SWAT teams and unlimited legal spending to ruin your life. The process is the punishment and even proclaiming your innocence will bring an indictment for tampering and obstruction. This is not “A Few Good Men”, this is “The Firm” without the higher authority to bail you out.

    Gary,

Trump can still be bad for a variety of other reasons …. just not this one.

You hung on to this John Brennan spy novel idiocy and all it has done is make Trump look persecuted, (inadvertently) heroic, and enhanced his re-election prospects.

Worse yet, failing to see through the Scam(because you didn’t want to?) and the Obama DOJ/FBI/IC corruption undergirding the entire debacle, you have peed all over your own credibility and quite blatantly revealed your judgement on this historic event to be very, very wrong.

It did not escape my notice that AG Barr had the twerp Rosenstein behind him at the press conference.

Note the statement from AG Barr reported by Fox (link at comment #17) …

Barr and deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein disagreed with some of those theories and “concluded that the evidence developed by the special counsel is not sufficient to establish that the president committed an obstruction-of-justice offense.”

Mueller punted this decision to the AG. It has been decided, with the weasel Rosenstein agreeing. Rosenstein is gonna sing like a songbird.

Yes, I am with AG Barr. Comey, Mueller, Strzok …….. made me do it.
