Lawsy, I hadn’t seen that before. “I’m going to get me a beer…”???! Honest to Pete, she thought she was appealing to regular Americans, and not insulting them?? What a maroon.

Hey, Liz! Go back to writing Native American cook books. You’re more authentic at it.

For God’s sake, doesn’t he have anything better to do?

    Rico Twitter Bot,

Thank you so much. I needed the comic relief.

You gotta watch the full video!

I actually just checked her Instagram account so I could embed it and it’s not there any more! She deleted it!

Trump does have a strong comedic sensibility. That’s useful.

I’d prefer that he be dull as dishwater and have read every book by Thomas Sowell but that doesn’t improve his electibility much.

It’s simultaneously funny, beneath the presidency, and a waste of his time. That can be true right?

I suppose he’s on call 24/7, but I’m willing to allow him an hour or so occasionally when he can just be “The Donald”. Probably good for his mental state.

For pete’s sake. He was running against her for president at that moment. Frankly, I haven’t seen the video, but it can’t be that risible. But Trump is campaigning against all campaigners, and I do think she thinks she’s one — which does make her one. Remember, he beat an entrenched and establishment-blessed Hillary. He knows how to frame things.

I do agree with most of your sentiment.

However, it isn’t beneath the Presidency. The Presidency is a weird popularity contest and Trump is good at being popular. That’s how he got elected.

I honestly thought, It’s just a video! Give her a break, everyone is doing it. I’m so jaded I expect everyone to pander irrationally to the imagined sentiments of working class voters. (At least she doesn’t have a Russian propaganda poster in three colors on her kitchen wall. Where would I have seen that anyway. Oh, yesss!)

But if she took it down after Trump criticized it, then it meant more to her than I thought, and Trump just got under her skin bigly.

You get that Donald Trump is, right? He’s not just some bloviating jackass on Twitter anymore. He’s the President.

His Tweets are official statements from the President of the United States of America. He should conduct himself appropriately.

First, it’s not just an hour with him. He does this all the time.

Second, he’s President 24/7, he should comport himself that way.

Third, yeah, he’s on call 24/7. That’s the job he signed up for.

I’m not sure you can say a President is “good at being popular” when his approval rating hovers around 40%.

I don’t think we should look to Presidents for dignity. There are and will always be politicians. I think we can do better. America has about a gazillion decent people we can look to rather than politicians.

It would be great to bring dignity back to the presidency in my opinion. However, others have made the great point that the office has changed so much in how it impacts our every day lives. Maybe it is the best course of action to have it be more undignified. People need to be reminded that whoever the president may be, they are just a very fallible person who may or may not be better than anyone of us.

As for this specific instance. His tweet took what, 2 seconds? He helped make a political enemy look like an idiot more effectively in those 2 seconds than either of the Bush’s did throughout their entire terms.

Here we go again. People who are deranged by Trump have more fodder and those that love him have more fuel for the fire. The rest of us just don’t really care but are starting to get annoyed with the aforementioned extremists who are the real cause of all the problems.

No one believes that a person who has taught law at several high-status universities is going to say, “get me a beer.” How insulting.
