Reid on Obamacare Horror Stories: “All of Them Are Untrue”

Harry Reid had a simple message for American citizens with cancer and others who have lost their health insurance due to Obamacare: “YOU LIE.”

“Despite all that good news, there’s plenty of horror stories being told,” Reid said. “All of them are untrue.”

My family lost our health insurance plan — the one Obama and Reid repeatedly promised we could keep. Instead, we’re paying significantly more for health care than we ever have. Most of our friends and family are in the same boat.

Am I a liar, Sen. Reid? Are all of us?

Nah, the Senate Majority Leader claiming that cancer patients are liars is way less harmful to the Democratic Party than a crackpot celebrity loosely affiliated with the GOP calling the most powerful person in the world an ugly name is to the Republicans.

    Those conservatives just don’t care.

Before seeing Jon’s post, I posted Reid’s comment on the Member Feed, paired with this classic from a former Enron adviser:

“In Britain, the government itself runs the hospitals and employs the doctors. We’ve all heard scare stories about how that works in practice; these stories are false.” –Paul Krugman, 8/16/09

Hartmann von Aue: This needs to be an campaign ad featuring a whole lot of people holding up their “coverage cancelled” letters and saying, “No , Harry, I’m not a liar.” Or perhaps something more colorful. And a lot of these ads need to feature Nevada residents.  · 5 minutes ago

Yes, In addition, every Democratic senator up for re-election needs to challenged if Reid’s statement is true or false and will they continue to support him as the Democratic senate leader.

    Jon,

I am going to just repeat my comment on Pejman’s post.

“Krugman and Harry Reid.  The wall eyed psycho of the Times and the walking cadaver of the Senate.

How can you tell they are lying?

    Their lips are moving.”

    Regards,

    Jim

    HvA,

Good suggestion.  Would make a good AD.

By all means, don’t let Ted Cruz know. He might try to do something about it and we can’t have that.

Would be nice if he tried something effective.  Banging one’s head against the wall is not the preferred method of “doing something”.

My premiums increased by $200/month for me and my husband and my Mom’s assisted living costs by $500/month. I asked the director, is this because of Obamacare. He said, without hesitation, Yes.

Being a liberal means never having to say you are sorry.

These people are stone Fascists, who stopped being Americans long ago.  Bill Clinton’s stonewalling about Monica was a trial run that didn’t quite work, but did demonstrate that the press would spin dry the news cycle to flush unpleasant facts down the memory hole.  But they got it right with Kerry’s military records that he was going to release as soon as the election was over (coming up on 10 years).  They got it right big time with Obama’s records, and not just his birth records.

His whole administration has done nothing but flush away reality with its own narrative of bare-faced false assertions, broken promises, and  denials of the obvious.

Someone needs to volunteer to watch the nightly news on those crummy channels (ABC CBS NBC CNN) and read the crummy newspapers (NYT, WaPo, LAT) to see if they dutifully repeat this charming putdown by Dingy Harry.

Let’s remember that this is the despicable human being who said during the campaign last year that Mitt Romney hadn’t paid any taxes in the past 10 years.

Truth has no meaning for Harry.

My rage meter pegs every time this lying sack of you-know-what opens his mouth. Obama and his policies deeply worry me, Nancy Pelosi is a amazingly stupid and hypocritical gas bag, Chuck Schumer is like a funny uncle who scares all the children in the family, etc. But Harry Reid is the most miserable, useless, lying, hateful, corrupt politician to cast a shadow on Washington in our times. He is purposefully enabling the downfall of our Republic and has decided to cast his lot with evil (or perhaps he is truly evil incarnate).

What in the wide, wide world of sports is wrong with the voters of the state of Nevada?

HeartofAmerica: So what are we going to do about it? We know he lies but what are we prepared to do to counteract it?

Unless millions of Americans decide to fight back against this disaster (and it will get worse) then we’ve let him have the last word. I can’t count on Congress, the courts or the media to fight anything anymore. If you stick your neck out too far, you get audited and no one wants that dog fight. The game is rigged.

So I guess we should just stick a fork in us because it’s done, right? · 7 minutes ago

May I ask what suggestions you have? The constant refrain is that the Republicans are not “doing anything” about Obamacare.

The GOP has a tendency to ignore opportunities or squander them. They talk a good game but it comes down to it, members often prefer to grab some pork for their district instead of working on issues that affect us all. We also have leadership who actively works against many voices within our party who work for change. Putting the same type of people in office over and over again gains us nothing.

I cannot think of a horrible, rude, nasty thing that  a person could be called that would NOT apply to Harry Reid.  The very sight of that a–hat makes my blood boil.

His saying this is not a bad thing. Anytime he’s on camera as the face of the Democrats is a good time for us. As Paul Rahe points out, his ghastliness is the overwhelming takeaway.

But beyond that, anyone disadvantaged by Obamacare or anyone that knows of anyone is that predicament is instantly aware that Reid is a partisan worm with no regard for the truth. Amazingly, this will actually be news to some people.

May I ask what suggestions you have? The constant refrain is that the Republicans are not “doing anything” about Obamacare. Well, is not that a natural consequence of controlling only one house of Congress while the opposition party controls the White House and the Senate? Ordinary persons can at least be shamed by the truth. This crowd is clearly impervious to shame, which works to their advantage.

The only thing we can do is win at the ballot box. Win the Senate in November, and win the White House in 2016.

I wonder if Reid and his ilk keep saying things like this because they know the GOP will just roll over and ask the Democrats not to hurt them, please.

It’s easy to say anything when your opponents aren’t even the least bit willing to call you on it.
