Bob Einstein, R.I.P.
Comedian Bob Einstein passed away on January 2. He was a comedy writer who made his debut on “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” as California Highway Patrol Officer Judy and then created the character Super Dave Osborne, a more inept version of Evel Knievel who placed himself in various life-threatening situations. His brand of humor, in some cases, may not be considered politically correct in today’s overly sensitive and easily offended culture but, thankfully, his skits and stunts have been saved for posterity on YouTube.
Thank you, Mr. Einstein. May you rest in peace.
I was a big fan when I was a lil’ tyke; started watching Him on Bizarre.
I never knew He was Brother to Albert Brooks until I read an obit.
R.I.P.

Super Dave made the audacious approachable…Rest in Peace.
I didn’t realize until now that Officer Judy and Super Dave were the same guy.
RIP. Same here regarding he and Albert Brooks as brothers.
His father was a famous comedian of the pre-television era Harry Einstein who worked under the name Parkyakarkus and his mother was a working actress Thelma Leeds.
Bob Einstein was well respected by contemporary comedians. I listened to him on the Norm McDonald podcast and I believe Bob Einstein did two of Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
He was always hilarious.
Man, that’s too bad. I loved Super Dave.
That makes me really sad; I loved the routine with him playing the piano on top of the bus (clip #4 above). I remember falling off my chair laughing when I saw it on the Tonight Show.
You missed the atomic yo-yo stunt.
So Albert Brooks’ birth name was Albert Einstein. That’s a pretty tough name to live up to.
I was gonna share that, too.
