Can She Be Stopped?

At this point, the continued Prime Ministership of Theresa May is a grave danger to the British National Interest. Her so-called ‘deal’ is far worse than a WTO clean Brexit or simply staying within the EU.

WTO clean Brexit is the simplest and best way out. All of the worst doomsday predictions fostered by her government have been shown to be gross exaggerations, if not outright lies while the backstop threatens the very constitutional composition of Great Britain. Meanwhile, the obvious benefits of clean Brexit WTO trading in making the most massive trade deals with a host of willing partners have been completely ignored. Finally, the EU itself is likely to be a dead weight. There has been little increase in EU trade for Britain, but Britain has already been rapidly expanding her trade on an ad-hoc WTO basis with the rest of the world. Anyone can see the writing on the wall as country after country elects populist anti-EU governments shaking off the dead hand of EU bureaucratic tyranny. The EU at this point is a mindless whale that the PM has hopelessly tied herself to. This did not work out well for Captain Ahab.

She has refused all objective advice and clung on to a fantasy position that manipulatively promotes her own personal political advantage. She will drag Britain under while she continues her robot-like pseudo-leadership. The only members of parliament who could continue to support her are the worst kind of political sycophants and parasites. Her single-minded stupidity makes one wonder what drives her. Is there something sinister or is it just a flaw of character? Whatever the reason she must be removed.

Perhaps there was something in her childhood?

There was a time when Parliament couldn’t be frightened by mindless stares.

Regards,

Jim

Tory MP says Theresa May has just told them she will resign as PM before the next general election. Some Ministers reported to be in tears inside the committee room.

I just heard this down at the precinct. Nothing confirmed yet.

    Afternoon James,

We had the big scare before the referendum and the voters didn’t buy it, we are having the big scare about this deal, if we have no deal it is the end of the world, however now it is not in the voters hands it is in the hands of the MP’s and many of them were, like May, against Brexit from the jump.  I don’t see how Brexit succeeds, do you?

Great movie that “Village of the Damned!” But I always the title was kind of, well, lazy. “Village of the Damned?” How cookie-cutter can you get? I first thought, “Why didn’t they name the movie after the book?” Then I found out the name of the book: “The Midwich Cuckoos.” Suddenly, “Village of the Damned” wasn’t so bad a title after all.

May has been using the prospect of Corbyn. It is time for the Brexiteers to use Corbyn as a bogeyman against the Remainers.

As a barren Harridan, how can she possible have an interest in the long term interests of her country?

Children are one’s stake in the future, and as we are witnessing on a large scale from all of the current childless “leaders” within the EU, they seem to focused on the short term tactical, rather that the long term strategic outcomes for the people they are suppose to represent.

I assume they have this traction with a large enough share of their electorates because, the aging bohemians who elect them just want an easy and casual existence on the the end of life welfare systems, with no regard for the disruption from the imported castes they are bring in to support this end game.

Mark Steyn noted that demography determines the fate of a country by who is showing up to populate that future.

    Old Europe is looking…..old.

But seriously, Jim’s beloved no-deal Brexit doesn’t seem that far-fetched even after this vote.

May is not going to get any significant changes to her signature deal – she doesn’t want to re-open negotiations and neither does the EU. And Parliament is not going to pass that piece of garbage just because she survived a confidence vote.

Yet unless she’s been pulling off an incredibly elaborate hoax, she seems determined that the UK will leave the EU on shedshule.

What other option is there but a no-deal Brexit that fulfills those criteria?

    OK,

According to the chart. The next step is to see if her ‘deal’ passes Parliament. If not then the next step is a Commons Vote of No Confidence. Without DUP she will be vulnerable as all that is required is a simple majority. If she loses then they have 14 days to form a new government. If they can’t form a new government then they call a general election.

Do you need to vote on the treaty first to have the Commons Vote of No Confidence? If a General election is held what do you do if Corbyn wins?

If as Mendel points out if you can just stall until March you get No-Deal hard Brexit, what was the point of this attempted overthrow? Just grind the gears until March. Then you get what you want. If you topple the government and have new elections then maybe you don’t get the Brexit you want.

There was a very good discussion on the NR cruise about May’s version of Brexit.  It was actually “Brexit Ultra-Light”, which is not what the actual vote was about (total Brexit).

Most of them have realised they don’t want it, and need to climb down while preserving some political cred.

Because if they get a Hard Brexit they’ll own the outcome – I think most Tories are getting seriously cold feet.  (Also repenting at leisure, but that’s as it is. )

    Val,

Well, I think the key to your question is the “if you can” phrase. To hold off May you need the votes to win. 117 Tory MPs voted no confidence. If they voted no confidence we can be pretty sure they will vote against the deal. The DUP will vote against it so that’s another 10. Now comes the question what will Corbyn do. He has already said he will vote against May’s deal. If he can get 2/3 of Labor to come with him she goes down. She is playing for time also, trying to break off a piece of the forces that are against her. Meanwhile, Merkel is badly wounded and Macron is in flames. What must be made clear is that the British National Interest is being sacrificed to prop up the corrupt and failing EU. There is no middle way that is just a lie that Theresa May keeps repeating. She is even willing to risk the constitutional integrity of Great Britain itself. All for the Euro-fantasy. The United Kingdom has been a democracy for over 350 years. The EU is not now and never will be a democracy. This should be a no-brainer.

I agree backing into a clean WTO Brexit would be just fine.  Unfortunately, I suspect it will have to be over Theresa May’s dead body but whatever works is OK with me. If the British people would actually pick Corbyn over Boris I’d say the sun has set upon them finally and nothing can be done. However, I think Corbyn gets beat against Boris. It would be a truer referendum on Brexit then a second actual referendum because it could not be sabotaged.

    Regards,

    Jim

Your assumption here is that if her deal goes down in flames than her ministry will immediately follow.

But as this week demonstrates, that’s not necessarily the case. If anything should have brought May down, it’s using parliamentary tricks to single-handedly cancel a vote against the will of her own party on a deal that was about to suffer a humiliating defeat. In any normal universe that should have been automatically disqualifying, should it not? And yet like a bad case of toenail fungus, May is sticking around.

So I’m no longer convinced it’s a given that May has to leave if her deal gets badly defeated in any “meaningful vote”. The sword of Jerocles will still hang over her own party and the DUP, and the risk that Labour might win an election will probably increase over the coming months as long as Corbyn doesn’t beclown himself (big if).

Hence, I wouldn’t be shocked if the UK ends up in the absurd and paralyzing scenario of May’s deal being killed but her ministry continuing.

I never could figure out the 2012 presidential election.  There was absolutely no reason why Mitt Romney should not have been elected.  Oh, wait, but voters didn’t want the first black president to be defeated?!

Everything is about identity politics these days, and Western Europe seems to be further down on that path that even the United States.  How else to explain awarding Obama the Nobel Prize a few days or weeks into office?  And that was ten years ago.  That was the funniest thing ever.  What a way to discredit your award among the people of the world with an actual brain!

Tory Remainer: “We can’t have a woman defeated and kicked out of office in such a way.”

Tory Brexiteer: “She’s not even the first female Prime Minister!”

Tory Remainer: “It would look terrible in front of the eyes of the world.  What will the conservative women think of us?”

Tory Brexiteer: “I don’t think you said such things when your ancestors knifed conservative hero Margaret Thatcher in the back, largely over the exact EU same issue!”

    Tory Remainer: “That was different.”

Nancy Peolosi can stay in office forever.  Angela Merkel can only be replaced with another woman or non-white male.  Zoë Baird and Barbara Boxer could only be replaced by other women, etc.

Image, not results is what is important to the self-awareness establishment, even when some these establishment types are actually labeled as Conservative.
