Republicans Cave in to James Comey

At first glance, the Republicans got their way in their “demand” that James Comey testify privately before Congress. Big deal.

The House Judiciary Committee also agreed to release the transcript within 24 hours so that Comey can release all or part of it to the public.

Is this supposed to be a win? So the public won’t get to see all the histrionics on video, but I’m sure committee members will make up for the lack of visual display through their expressions of outrage and sympathy for Mr. Comey.

I know that Republicans were afraid that due to his court filing, Comey would delay the issue until the new Congress came in and the testimony request would disappear.

Also, won’t Comey again be able to refuse to answer questions due to “security reasons”?

Maybe someday Republicans will stand up for truth and transparency. But not on Tuesday.

No, because the members are changing with the new Congress. And the Senate Judiciary Committee will finally get rolling on the Clintons, DOJ and FBI.

Oh, @cliffordbrown, I sure hope so. I’m so sick of issues being swept under the rug and ignored.

Those Republicans who blatantly work against Trump infuriate me. And most of it will hopefully just be spin, but few people know that.

I think the Comey hearing would and could only be a prelude. What ever comes out of the hearing if it were damaging to the Democrats, Hillary et al would just be covered up and not reported by the media.

It will take a Special Counsel appointed by acting AG to really get to the bottom of the many messes at the DOJ, FBI, CIA et al.  The  DOJ and FBI can no longer be counted on to enforce the law or do a judicious and even handed investigation and prosecution. In fact, a Special Counsel could be used by the Trump administration as a rope-a -dope ploy to evade the coming and likely  ridiculous new Democrat House investigations by claiming full answers will impede investigations just as Mueller has done to the current House and Senate.

I’m so tired of the control of the media in this country. We are ruled by them–we are not governed by Congress or the President. With all the rich Republicans, you would think there was one creative one who could spearhead a media breakthrough, somewhere.

I doubt it. With each budget the Republicans have been handing over more of the wealth of the country to Democrats.

For 30 years I’ve been pointing out that Democrat moneybags have been using their wealth to control the country, and that the Republicans should make something of it at election time. But Republicans always say, “Nope, can’t do that. That’s class warfare.”

And Tom Steyer loves ’em for it.
