President Trump did, indeed, double down on hating back the Jew-hating mass-murderer. I’ve gone on C-SPAN and created the relevant clip from the Illinois MAGA Event: President Trump Calls for “Destruction” of Anti-Semites, Death Penalty for “crimes like these.”

The killer was depraved on account of he’s depraved, to borrow from West Side Story.He is, on available evidence, no John Hinkley, acting on the delusion that a spectacular act of violence would endear him to a movie star. He was not bowling alone, he was marinating in an ancient hate, channeling and reinforcing his evil through an online forum, instead of ranting in a bar, or passing out pamphlets.

Rabbi Benjamin Sendrow got it right:

"We pray today for moral clarity. Let us not dismiss this as an act of insanity, but see it for what it is, an act of evil," the rabbi said in his prayer. "May we always remember that the presence of a few evil people among us does not define this country."

And the President got it right, speaking to the young people of the FFA, and then to the MAGA event crowd.

Kudos to Scott Johnson, of PowerLine, who generated a transcript of the first half of the relevant portion, in “Trump speaks for me (2).”

Before going any further I want to address the horrible shooting that took place earlier today. The hearts of all Americans are filled with grief following the monstrous killing of Jewish Americans at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This evil anti-Semitic attack is an assault on all of us. It’s an assault on humanity. It will require all of us working together to extract the hateful poison of anti-Semitism from our world. This was an anti-Semitic attack at its worst. The scourge of anti-Semitism cannot be ignored, cannot be tolerated and cannot be allowed to continue. We can’t allow it to continue. It must be confronted and condemned everywhere it rears its very ugly head. We must stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters to defeat anti-Semitism and vanquish the forces of hate. That’s what it is.

Through the centuries the Jews have endured terrible persecution. And you know that. We’ve all read it. We’ve studied it. They’ve gone through a lot. And those seeking their destruction — we will seek their destruction.

When I wrote “Jew-Hating Mass Murderer also Hates Trump, Who Hates Him Back with Interest,” I claimed President Trump would go further at the MAGA rally than he did earlier in the day before the young people of the FFA. Boy, did he! Emphasis added to show Trump’s inflection:

…those seeking [the Jews] destruction — we will seek their destruction!

Now when you have crimes like this, whether it is this one, or another one, or another group, we have to bring back the death penalty. They have to pay—the ultimate price. They have to pay the ultimate price. They can’t do this. They can’t do this to our country.

We must draw a line in the sand, and say very strongly: “Never Again.”

Tonight, everyone in this arena, and every citizen across the land, sends our prayers to the victims and their families. We all do.

We also send our gratitude to the law enforcement officers, who were incredible. And who risked their lives, and who sustained very, very serious injuries, during this horrible attack. We salute the heroes of American law enforcement. We always do, we always do. We know how much we appreciate them, and yet they are under-appreciated.

They have done such an incredible job, for so long, and it is a tough job. We see it now, we see it now, maybe more than we’ve ever seen it before. And this is the time to renew the bonds of love and loyalty that hold us all together as Americans.

These bonds have always sustained our nation, in its hour of need. You know that, everybody here knows that. And they are always more powerful, than the forces of hatred and division, anger and evil.

In America, we love our families, we love our neighbors, and we protect our community. We, we trust in God. We protect the freedom of worship. And we believe in the power of prayer. 

We defend our Constitution. We defend our heritage, and we rally around our great American flag, like nobody does. All of us here tonight, are united by these same American values. And we are all fighting to defend these values this election.

This election is a very, very important election.

You must watch President Trump’s body language. Nothing subtle here. Staffs at the Department of Justice, State Department, and the Department of Defense had better be working the intent of the Commander in Chief, and chief law enforcement officer of the land, into feasible policy.

He spoke with a moral force and bluntness about anti-Semitism unheard from any previous President. In longer form, this moment matched his, equally unprecedented, public denunciation of late term abortion procedures, as he debated Hillary Clinton in 2016. The man gets some hard moral truths, and speaks them in the bluntest of language.

As the President transitioned into his campaign remarks, he pointed back to the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. He recalled that the New York Stock Exchange took superhuman efforts to reopen the next day, and the Yankees got back on the field, in defiance of the terrorists.

We can’t make these sick, evil, demented people important . . . I don’t want to change our lives for someone who is sick and evil.

He added a new line to his closing crescendo [italicized]:

We will not bend. We will not break. We will never give in. We will never back down and we will never surrender. And we will always fight on to victory. Always.

We are one people and one family, with one glorious American destiny.

We all share the same home. We all share the same heart. We all salute the same flag. And we are all made by the same almighty God.

And all together, with love in our hearts, and hope in our souls—

We will make America wealthy again.

We will make America strong again.

We will make America safe again.

And we will Make America Great Again!

Domestic Implications:

President Trump, unlike the left, is answering eliminationist threats with his own focused threats of elimination. President Trump is filling the public square with calls for real American unity and concrete, hard action against murderers. His call for bringing back the death penalty points straight at Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s 2015 moratorium on executions. Wolf, a Democrat, is running for reelection in a pro-Second Amendment state, so he was carefully vague about gun-grabbing after the massacre.

The President has cast a harsh light on an evil that has been invited back into our culture. Anti-semitism, under the thin disguise of anti-Zionism and criticism of Israel, has been “ignored by the media and fueled by academia.”

And where are the opponents of bigotry in academia, where vicious anti-Semitism, in the guise of anti-Israel polemics and protests, goes unchallenged?

The old shadow has crept back into the Democratic Party. As a writer from Texas observed of “Betomania and anti-Semitism:”

Meanwhile, founders of the March for Women have zero problems supporting Louis Farrakhan, who recently called Jews termites. The Democrats have a congressional candidate who mirrors Farrakhan’s views. […] It’s okay to criticize Israel for making mistakes, but when you decide that the good Israel does for its neighbors and for the region are never going to be enough, there can really only be one reason.

The authors of PowerLine have long chronicled the sordid past and present of Keith Ellison, now seeking to leave Congress and become the chief law enforcement officer of Minnesota. He is rightly called “Minnesota’s apostle of hate.”

He was a long-time apostle of hate on behalf of Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, though the local Minnesota media haven’t gotten around to revisiting the issue as Ellison seeks statewide office. Now he is an apostle of hate on behalf of the causes of the increasingly mainstream far left of the Democratic Party.

Speaking last week at a debate with GOP candidate Doug Wardlow, Ellison explained that he had operated under the impression that Farrakhan “had some things to offer.” Well, that’s the problem. As an advocate of Farrakhan and active member of the Nation of Islam hate cult, Ellison never dissented from a single doctrine of the creed according to Farrakhan.

The leftist media are still trying to provide cover, for the genocidal regime in Iran, the Palestinian genocidal proto-state, their precious Party leaders, and their youth troops—trained and mobilized by college professors and administrators. As they scream “Trump,” or “guns,” understand that this is covering rhetoric, seeking to divert the American voters’ moral common sense, from the evil leftists tolerate in their midst.

Foreign Policy Implications:

Erdoğan, the Khomenist regime, Hezbollah, and Hamas should not be happy with the weekend’s events. Saudi Arabia should be looking for a way to move past the (perhaps self-sprung) trap of the killing in their consulate in Turkey, steering back into advancing a peace deal with Israel. Our good friends and allies, across the Atlantic, would do well to hear how the President has marked for destruction, that which they have tolerated for centuries.
