Hollywood Gave Roman Polanski a Standing Ovation, Now They are Protesting Kavanaugh
Whoopi Goldberg is one of Roman Polanski’s most ardent defenders; she will be in D.C. tomorrow protesting Judge Kavanaugh.
The same people who have been defending Roman Polanski for decades, and who still defend him now, want us to listen to them while they talk about morality.
I realize that most people on Ricochet probably already know about Roman Polanski, but there are many people out there, especially younger people, who may not have heard about him and Hollywood’s defense of him; we should be doing everything in our power to make sure that every human being on earth over the age of 14 knows who Roman Polanski is, what he did, and the lengths that Hollywood goes to defend him.

Didn’t Whoopi say, with regard to Polanski’s sexual “engagement” with the aforementioned female, “But it wasn’t rape rape!”?
Yup, she says it in the you tube video linked to in the op. Unbelievable.
Hypocrisy is perhaps the most unappealing trait on the left.
There are lots of cases of Hollywood being hypocritical; they are willing to give every benefit of the doubt to Bill Clinton, while any republican facing similar charges is guilty until proven innocent. But Roman Polanski stands out, because with him, we aren’t just dealing with accusations: he was actually found guilty-plead guilty, in fact, in a court of law. And still, Hollywood defends him.
Hypocrisy at leasts admits that virtue is virtue. To me, it is the left’s bullying and resort to mobs and mobbed up politicians and outright denial of truth that rankles most.
Hollyweirdos.
Same crowd who said they would go down to their knees for BJ Clinton….
Lets go to the list…
1. Eileen Wellstone (1969)
2. Anonymous female student at Yale University (1972)
3. Anonymous female student at the University of Arkansas (1974)
4. Anonymous female lawyer (1977)
5. Juanita Broaddrick (1978)
6. Carolyn Moffet (1979)
7. Elizabeth Ward (1983)
8. Sally Perdue (1983)
9. Paula Jones (1991)
10. Sandra Allen James (1991)
11. Christy Zercher (1992)
12. Kathleen Willey (1993)
And sadly though, they have tremendous influence in our culture.
Not just rape. He drugged and sodomized a child. Because he was disgusted she wasn’t taking birth control and didn’t want to get her pregnant.
Polanski also is starting work on a new movie. Perhaps while Whoopi’s in Washington someone can ask her is she’d like to fly to Paris and do a cameo role in the production.
I cannot like this comment, but thank you, I wasn’t totally aware of all the details. We should all be totally aware of all the details, so thank you.
I think their penchant for mass murder is.
Face it, there are many.
I find one of them to be the continual avowals that they, entitled, privileged and powerful as they all are, are somehow speaking “truth to power” on behalf of the rest of us poor saps, and that they are constantly telling us, and each other, how very, very “brave” they are for doing so. As though they’re in danger of being hauled off and shot at dawn, or thrown into jail and never seen again, for standing up at the Oscars or wherever is might be and dropping the “F” bomb on the President of the United States. So brave.
Amazing how aspiring starlets in the Eighties/Nineties didn’t know how to say: “No, thanks!” (to pills that weren’t prescribed/drinks they didn’t order/pour) and just #walkaway from encounters that became uncomfortable, isn’t it?
Nanda, the girl raped by Roman Polanski was 13 years old. I didn’t mention that in the op, but I should have.
Aware of that, JaC…Amazed at the lumping together of teens – and volitionally-capable adults – in Hollyweird.
Actually, it’s much worse than that-the consensus in Hollywood is that what happened between 43 year old Polanski and the 13 year old girl was totally consensual. But they also believe that grown women in their twenties and thirties are not capable of saying no and walking away. The insanity continues.
And grows/deepens; but not without glimmers of hope. (Some of whom are known to each of us.)
I wonder if the Hollywoo people think that abandoning Polanski – a true artist! and hence a noble soul! – would lead to the day when the Picassos are pried off the wall, given his behavior. But I don’t believe they think that far in advance.
Anyway, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences expelled Roman in 2018, along with Bill Cosby. Someone should ask Whoopi whether she agrees with that decision.
That is the guy Hollywood lionizes.
Polanski commited the rape trifecta – VAO penetration on an underage girl. These vocal Hollywood types are dead to me . . .
Leftists (and hollyweirdos are a subset of Leftists) have demonstrated that they almost never think about the future consequences of any of their actions. They think of immediate consequences only.
This. Same thing that gets me upset. I understand people will disagree over tax rates and abortion and guns. I try to accept that and move on. But the whole hounding people out of restaurants and yelling at speakers turns me off.
“You have blood on your hands. You hurt my feelings.” All that yelling and screaming is just so… lazy. And it is increasingly the first step and the only step. “My feelings are hurt, checkmate!” I don’t think it should work like that.
I’m not saying lefties are mass murderers. But I’m increasingly of the opinion, watching the tolerance mobs, that the deaths caused by statists governments weren’t accidental or misinterpretations of their theories. There is something perverse that happens when the important parts of your system of belief revolve around person A being entitled to something person B has or produces.
I was discussing all of this with a friend last week and he asked me a very good question:
“The new Polanski movie is based on a Robert Harris novel about the Dreyfus Affair- so would you watch it?”
I’m sure everyone knows but just in case the Dreyfus Affair was an outrageous example of institutionalised anti-semitism in 19th- Century, and a matter close to the hearts of ardent supporters of Israel and the Jewish People, myself included.
I have considered Harris to be a creep ever since he first collaborated with the pervert Polanski, but I read and enjoyed the book so I guess I’ll watch the movie. A bit like people who listen to David Bowie or the Rolling Stones, I guess.
They are on the path to mass murder.
Harris is pretty good. I skipped the Evil Tony Blair-Bush book, but his Roman stuff is solid – and you don’t get the impression he’s trying to point out REALLY DISTURBING PARALLELS!!!!, just telling a story.
I suppose in the film version, it will come down to whether or not Polanski simply wants to recount a 120-year-old story in Harris’ voice, or if he wants to hammer home the REALLY DISTURBING PARALLELS!!!! to his own story or those of unfortunate Hollywood producers, actors or TV exes and stars, who are taken down by an accusatory state (or he could follow the pattern of “The Imitation Game” and tell a well-written and well-acted story about a major historical event straightforwardly …. until sucker-punching you with the REALLY DISTURBING PARALLELS!!!! in the final five minutes).
But most mass murderers are lefties . . .
Your headline is perhaps the best single point I have seen on this matter.
It is incredible to juxtapose Kavanaugh and Polanski and these two reactions.
Especially with the understanding that Kavanaugh, even Ford’s story were 100% true, would have been found guilty of a misdemeanor sexual assault (not a practicing attorney in MD) whereas Roman Polanski drugged and rape a 13 year old girl and then fled the country when he was unsure whether or not he would get a no-jail-time deal from the judge.
Devastating comparison.
