Is Judge Kavanaugh being Smeared?

It appears that Judge Kavanaugh is being smeared by an allegation of “possible sexual abuse” when he was in high school. According to WSJ,

“Sen. Dianne Feinstein has reported to the FBI an allegation concerning Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh that appeared to be connected to an incident of potential sexual abuse when he was a teenager, a person familiar with the matter said.

Mark Levin, the radio host, is reporting that Feinstein knew about the allegation in July, and that she did not refer it to the FBI until late last week. If that is true, Kavanaugh is being accused of conduct against which he could not defend himself during his hearings. That sounds like a smear.

So it’s worth asking: are we watching a smear campaign as it runs out of gas, making its last desperate attempt to derail a Supreme Court nomination?

Sure smells like one. It’s the new race card . When you have no case to make throw out a sexual abuse charge, the older the better .  We may learn the truth about this but not before he is confirmed . Then the Dems will be able to point out that those nasty Republicans voted for him even when they didn’t know whether the charge was true or not. Despicable behaviour by the Dems . And they probably know this is bogus.

The high school smear worked against Romney.  So why not??
    See https://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/11/us/politics/years-later-a-prep-school-bullying-case-snares-romney.html

If he withdraws, bring in Amy Barrett….and announce that Clarence Thomas is current being cloned for his own replacement.

“…when he was in high school…” says enough.  Mr Kavanaugh was born in 1965 and left high school in 1983.  This is beyond irrelevant.

There is some justification for suspecting them of being desperate.

    Yes. Next question.

(Given her newly revealed position as probably the largest conduit of leaked intelligence to the Chinese for the better part of a generation, you would think Madam Feinstein would prefer to keep well out of sight instead of participating in the most transparent bluff in the history of advise and consent.)

What are the specifics of this “abuse”? “Sexual abuse” as defined by liberals is so malleable as to be meaningless.

Did he rape women and then pay them off, like Bill? Or just say something “offensive”, like ‘Becky Thatcher is hot’?

Hell, I’ve probably committed “sexual abuse” multiple times this week by holding doors for women, simply because I’m a conservative.

    Total smear job.

Yes. Of course. Smear and character assassination is all Democrats can do these days. Unfortunately, with a complicit media, too many Americans don’t understand how desperate the attempts are.

The claim seems to be incredibly lame, even if assumed to 100% true (which of course, there is no reason to assume).

The Guardian supposedly got info on it and it’s basically that at a party when they were both 17, Kavanaugh and a friend locked her in a room against her will,  making her feel threatened.  She left the room without Kavanaugh or his friend harming her in any way.

Why do so many scoops in American politics come out of the British newspaper The Guardian?

As if to ask the question was not to know the answer…

The way I see it is these types of absurd Lefty public spectacles hurt the (D)’s and help the (R)’s right before the mid terms which is a boost to the (R)’s weak (but possible?) chances.

Reminds me of the scene in Risky Business.  “Get off the babysitter, Joel.  You will never have a future. No future!

If mistakes made in the puberty driven world of high school constitute disqualification for professional position for the rest of our lives, very very few of us have a future.

The Ds are such idiots on this.  The one thing they had against Kavanaugh which frankly gave me some pause was that it appeared he had in fact reviewed the stolen Manny Miranda information back in 2003 and was, at best, not fully forthcoming about it at his recent confirmation hearing. This latest nothing-burger will move that off the front burner and, if anything, should move Collins and Murkowski solidly into the “yes” camp.  Way to go, Dianne.

Absolutely.  It has worked in the past – see Herman Cain (9-9-9) and Roy Moore for recent examples.

By the way, what happened to their accusers after they were defeated or dropped out?

It’s the new form of lynching by the Party of Andrew Jackson …

This is a circus. It’s a national disgrace [yea, hang your head because I mean you Biden, you liar]. It’s a high-tech lynching for uppity Blacks, who in any way deign to think for themselves. And it is a message, that unless you kowtow to the old order, you will be lynched, destroyed, caricatured … by a committee of the U.S. Senate rather than hung from a tree.

Yes, and it’s working. There are more than enough Republicans retiring from the Senate that they can shoot the bird and send the nomination down in flames waiting for the Republicans to lose the Senate.

(This is only nano-scopically tongue in cheek, FYI….)

A broader question, that applies to many more cases, and is much easier to answer and deal with, is the following:  “Are the Dems playing dirty and should we flatly ignore every datum and complaint they introduce?”

The answer to this is always, “Yes”, and obviates any requirement for nuanced, fair-minded analysis, politeness or consideration from our side, such as that offered in this piece.

To everything they bring, we go around it, we go over it, and do what we need to do, regardless.

If you ever want to know why some of us held our nose and voted for Trump over Hillary.  Watching Jeff Flake and Bob Corker hem and haw instead of wanting the vote is why.

2 Republicans not running for re-election, but want to stay in their (Democrat) colleague good graces.

We’re all Hitler.  Ross Douthat out there whispering “Barrett” when the pressure on Murkowski and Collins on the abortion question will force them to say “no.”

Where is Feinstein having to stand trial for burying this?  Why is “credibly accused” the phrase du jour amongst our journalistic betters who coordinate with the DNC instead of “credible accusations.”  She sat on this for 2 months. I’m fairly certain the FBI could have done their due dilligence in that time.

Why can’t the accuser remember any of the when where who and how are the “notes” credible when she disputes the number of people involved?  How does one mishear two and write down 4?  Why did she have a polygraph result at the ready?

Why does a non-criminal act when one is 17 make your adult lifetime of being a judge invalid?  I was a mess in high school, does that mean I’m no longer allowed to have career success?

This “The GOP shouldn’t want the baggage” is a fake narrative.  EVERYONE is going to have baggage.  Oh if only we’d put on a “moderate” like Merrick Garland on the court.

If the GOP caves in hopes of saving themselves elctorally we’re done.   The Left is already “motivated” they are at their ceiling.  The Right is under a constant barrage of gaslighting news stories meant to dampen faith, we don’t need the help.
