Members of the Media Asked Manafort Judge…
…to unseal the names of the jurors in the widely-watched trial of the former Trump campaign official.
Now, just what might those members of the “media” do with that information if they had it? Since the judge himself states that he has been threatened, and must employ his own security, I’m thinking that the “media” might be interested in making the lives of those jurors and their families mighty uncomfortable.
The judge denied the request. I would not want to be the jurors in that trial right now. What do you think?
They want the identities of the jurors so they can get their doxxing information ready in case there’s a mistrial.
If it takes more than a couple of days to get some real dirt on one or more of those people, the story will be stale and they won’t get the full quota of outrage from the usual leftists.
I can’t imagine a judge irresponsible enough to release those names.
I have really liked the judge in this case. Seems to have some common sense. Releasing the jurors names here would be akin to releasing names in a big drug lord or Mafia trial. This type of journalism is nothing new, however. We watched 2 old (late 1930 early 1940) movies lately that employee the same tactic. I think the difference now is we actually know about it and see it happening.
There’s no question they want the info so they can leak it to anti-Trump groups, and have protesters show up at these jurors’ homes.
And such an act would likely cause the whole thing to be declared a mistrial. You’d have to have a heart of stone not to laugh at such a darkly ironic development.
Is it time to have CNN declared a criminal organization?

The phrase “obstruction of justice” comes to mind to describe the media’s tactic.

Can we please have the names and addresses of the specific members of the media who requested this information? The people have a right to know!
I can’t believe a news media blatant enough to openly acknowledge that they are going to dox the jurors. If this isn’t attempted jury tampering then what the hell is?
Since when is releasing names of jurors in high profile cases (or any case) normal procedure? The judge was right but I did not think this was common – this shows that the press is looking for jury issues?
Just wait until Gulag has facial recognition of the US population. Then they won’t have to ask the judge abut the jury.

This was my first thought. The press may not need the judge’s permission…
They want the info so they can dox the jurors and also so they can publish their names and addresses to make sure they know the “public” is watching them.
Really? When you start getting pictures of your grand daughter on her way to school, with a ” be a shame if anything happened to her”? Or pictures of your wife leaving to get the groceries? It’s not the threats or danger to us old farts, its our loved ones that would get you.

Surely those making this request (and their superiors in their respective organizations) know that such a request is beyond the pale – way beyond.
The judge should simply bar these organizations from the courthouse grounds for the duration of the trial.
And, if releasing such information is illegal (instead of simply unethical), he should refer them for prosecution for suborning a felony.

Thanks! I’ve sat on a few local juries in magistrate’s court here. Found some defendants innocent, some guilty, even seen the judge direct a not guilty verdict. Never worried some loser would come looking for me . . .
Like someone said (who was that again?), the press is the enemy of the people.
The next time I’m called for jury duty, I’m just going to say I’ll automatically vote for acquittal unless my identity is secure.
Of course, I’ll never be selected anyway, being an ex-cop and all, but a guy can dream.
Some guys I worked with in the ‘drug wars’ got letters and/ or phone calls like this. It would have to make one at least contemplate a ‘course correction.’
In this case, the media will leave you alone if you vote to convict.
I’m stunned I was even allowed on a jury. Being an engineer, any defense attorney bent on BSing the jury would not want anyone who can think critically to be a member. Ironically, the last two times I served, there was no selection process – we showed up, answered some basic questions, then were seated.
