James Comey Warns Democrats Not to “Rush to the Socialist Left”

James Comey, even after leaving the FBI, continues to fly above the political fray as an impartial referee of modern affairs. Just kidding, of course. A few days ago, he said that Republicans had proven “incapable of fulfilling the Founders’ design,” and recommended that voters support Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections.

I would call that statement unusual behavior for a former FBI director who has been accused of influencing our last presidential election, but whatever. Then, Sunday afternoon, he tweeted, “Democrats, please, please don’t lose your minds and rush to the socialist left.” I presume he’s trying to pose as a thoughtful moderate, critical of extremists like Pol Pot and Republican congressmen.

But I wonder how he would differentiate Democrats from socialists. Prominent members of the Democratic Party have come out in favor of Medicare for all, a $15 minimum wage, free college tuition, and the abolition of ICE and national borders. That’s what Democrats believe in, yet Comey warns Democrats not to “rush to the socialist left.” I wonder what he thinks “the socialist left” looks like, and where he thinks socialists would disagree with Democrats. I would love to hear him (or any other prominent Democrat politician) describe the differences between Democrats and socialists.

I also wonder how he would answer if asked to describe how Republicans have proven, “incapable of fulfilling the Founders’ design,” and how he thinks Democrats might more closely follow our founding principles.

Again, there’s a decent chance that he doesn’t believe any of this silliness. But perhaps he does. Either way, I’d love to hear the explanation behind his reasoning.

Maybe Comey is hoping to be drafted as a Presidential nominee. Stranger things have happened

I seem to remember at some point in the last presidential campaign, Mrs Clinton was asked, “What is the difference between the democratic party and socialism?”  She couldn’t answer the question.

The media likes a 3-alarm fire and the Socialist insurgency is catnip to them.  The Socialist trend might not be a wide movement, but that is there the energy is.  The Dems have created a fevered monster of virtue signaling and exclusion that feeds back on itself.  Media->Twitter->politicians->Hollywood->Media…  all powered by Trump-hate.  It is like a mighty cyclone destroying everything in its path and the Dems don’t control it.

Operative word here is “rush”. Meander, saunter, glide, transition ..might be words he’d prefer.

Because he knows it’s too soon and there will be a backlash at the pols.

And hoping this is not too much of a sidebar, we also have the experience of a Rod Rosenstein, who somehow managed to maneuver Ms Clinton through the choppy waters of her Uranium One dealings, and get her through that mess unscathed. Yet Rosenstein now heads the oversight of the Mueller probe.

Rosenstein seems to not mind an investigation based on an unreliable dossier that was somehow paid for by the Clinton campaign. An investigation that stinks to high heaven, due to the fact that investigating that probe leads to an unassailable vision of alphabet agencies corrupted beyond belief.

Comey would line up with the more crony capitalist types of Democrats, as much as Hillary’s supporters would be shocked to hear that because he didn’t completely bury the reports on her server problems during the 2016 campaign.

The types of pols he’d prefer would be the ones willing to carve out special exemptions for their friends/big corporate donors for things like being stuck in a government-run health care system (dual system private hospitals for the wealthy and well-connected), the $15 minimum wage (carve-outs for things like unpaid internships) or free college tuition (great for public universities in their minds, while the elites send their spawns to the Ivy League, which would stay private and high-priced and wouldn’t be turned into essentially Grades 13-16 in bigger high schools).

The crony types talk socialist at times, but when it comes to their own personal interests. very much look out for themselves and their peer group. Comey fears the socialists wouldn’t simply talk the talk, but would force far more people — including many of the elites — to walk the walk, and during campaign season, not hide what they’re planning to do in a lot of areas like the crony capitalist Democrats do. Even if a few managed to get elected, they would alienate all but the hardest of hard-core progressive areas in a hurry.

Comey is for Comey.  Trump and the Republicans who support him are anti-Comey.  They all must go.  Trump for firing him unceremoniously and the Republicans for tolerating and worse supporting Trump.

What is more, Comey is fair, honest, dedicated, true, and selfless to a fault.  So Trump in comparison is a dirty, real estate, tax evader.  Comey pure; Trump soiled.  Comey principled; Trump venal.

And, Comey is willing to lie, cheat, steal, and twist things to prove he has integrity.  Comey is for Comey.  Buy his book. And follow him on Twitter, he is after all, a twit.

It would be like Arlen Specter’s presidential campaign.

    Only two groups hate him:

    1. Republicans
    2. Democrats

James Comey, a former unelected bureaucrat, has proved himself “incapable of fulfilling the Founders’ design.”

If Democrats go all socialist, and Republicans stay all Trumpy, then I will vote for neither.  If Democrats give me a Scoop Jackson or JFK alternative. Then I can vote for them.  If not, I will withold my vote from both parties, waiting for one of them to return to sanity.
