Conversations with Bill Kristol: Ronald Brownstein on Red and Blue America, 2018, and 2020

Ronald Brownstein is a Senior Editor at The Atlantic, Senior Political Analyst at CNN, and a shrewd observer of American politics. In this Conversation, Brownstein analyzes factors that fuel our increasingly polarized politics. He explains why these partisan divisions are likely to increase as we head toward elections in 2018 and 2020. Brownstein and Kristol also consider possible outcomes in the midterms, the direction of the Trump presidency, and reflect on the electoral dilemmas both parties face in an atmosphere of intense partisanship.

It’s always a pleasure to listen to Bill Kristol.

The mastermind of the Evan McMullen campaign and the meme-maker of the “coalition of the ascendant” and “Trump the political black hole for the GOP” explain the future for you.

Kristol’s interviews are often very good, but I couldn’t listen to Ronald Brownstein.

    He seems … a bit … unhinged.

I turned it off just after the 5-minute mark where Brownstein displayed his racism to denounce Trump’s racism while Kristol sat there and murmured, “Right. Right.”

Working-class whites is such a weird term.  What’s the opposite of that?

Non-working class Hispanics?  Upper-class blacks?  Northern suburban whites?

Are working-class steel workers and farmers the same voting block as working waitresses located in big cities?

On second thought, perhaps I should just watch the Ronald Brownstein interview for the entertainment value.

Update:  (Democrats in) low-carbon metro areas?  Wow, what a term!  Who on planet Earth speaks like that?  Democrats are also often located near dihydrogen monoxide with sodium chloride.

Update #2:  This Brownstein talks fast!  He might even talk faster than Ben Shapiro, and that’s something.
