In 2017, James Woods Created the #WalkAway Campaign
Actor James Woods is the first person I know of who referred to “a walk away movement.” That was in the summer of 2017.
Now that movement can lay claim to videos-gone-viral that discuss the 5 million people leaving the Democratic Party in droves.
As Trump’s economy roars into life, as Republicans encourage free speech and discussion while the Left demands that each follower fully amps up hatred to be thrown at every “micro aggressor” and “everyone ignorant of the need for tolerance,” real people notice the difference. One party is the party of “can do” and the other party is that of nonsense. Who wants to answer the demand for everyone to be perfectly politically correct at all times and no matter what? Their inflating the appeal of ID Politics is causing the Left to lose.
Lea Anna Bright, in a mohawk, looks into the camera and says in a slow, simmering voice: “This is a Vice article I am reading right now. It says, ‘The activist left doesn’t give a darn about your calls for civility. Get ready for a summer of rage.’” She looks up. “This is where the party is going, and this is why I chose to walk away. Peace. Not for me. Bye.”
A most enjoyable article to read.

Best Phrase From the walk away article: Professional and social fatwah
Good grief, the parallels to Sharia are cringe inducing. There is a correct attitude for everything under the sun, no matter how small. Non compliance is not an option, apostasy perhaps the worst sin of all.
That was a very refreshing article. Thank you.
Nailed it.
Props also for using “hatred” instead of the much-over-used “hate.”
I had the pleasure of meeting him before 9/11, when he was still a questing, questioning traveler recently arrived from the Left. One of the most unpretentious, easy-to-talk-to stars I ever met. (We were in Dan Tana’s rather famous restaurant. Tana himself called us over. “Now you two boys ought to know each other”.)
If you ever have a chance, check out his (alas) shortlived series, “Shark”, which in its own, semi-coded way, relates directly to Jimmy’s life: he’s a fantastically successful defense attorney who comes to realize that many of his clients were guilty. So he changes sides, and becomes the scourge of those criminals who’d lie to pretend they themselves were victims of the law.
Will do, thanks!
I heard that his IQ is “off the charts.”
One of my favorite lines in all movies was said about James Wood’s character in Eyewitness:
Lt. Jacobs: When he was a kid, Aldo must have wanted to be a suspect when he grew up.
Carol, I hope you’re right. I keep saying to myself that the Left is overplaying their hand, that their movement toward the far Left is not a winning strategy, that sputtering rage is not a political argument.

The quality of being vigilant is more important than ever. We really must do everything we can to stop them, and to be reasonable while doing it.
I see so many aspects of the Pol Pot movement in the Left. The idea that people in “diversity-oriented” California can be fired from a job because of an imagined micro-aggression. Or that someone could assume that due to how you look, you must be a White Supremacist or Nazi. (Beware of being over 65 and not wearing the expensive “chic” and subtle-hued rainbow outfits while out and about in trendy portions of Marin.)
In the early 1990’s, I heard first hand stories from my Cambodian neighbors of how the last time anyone in the family saw one of their relatives was during an “awakening meeting” wherein the people in the audience were asked to be truthful and to confess: “Does anyone here come from a family that owned a typewriter?” The people who raised their hands were politely escorted out of the meeting, and never seen again.
What possessions or behaviors will the new re-vamped Pol Pot require to be purged from our society? A very scary question, isn’t it?
Good thing ricochet doesn’t issue membership cards – that might be a deadly possession in the near future.
On my facebook feed, I get occasional reminders to boycott Dr Seuss, because in 1924 he was drawing cartoons that were racist against the Chinese. This is where we are at right now. Dr Seuss’ delightful books have not yet been purged from our library shelves and burned, but the day might not be too far away.
Well, Laura Ingalls Wilder of Little House on the Prairie fame is in the process of being expunged, so the days we fear may be a lot closer than we think.
We need a new Andrew Carnegie to reestablish actually-Free libraries. Maybe if they were privately owned and operated we could keep them from turning into magnets for homeless perverts.
This Brandon Steaks has credible traction with his #walkaway. Get him on podcasts for conversation. And someone get him a body guard. The deranged left are going to be unhinged even further.

@blueyeti
But, as we now know, that would be totally racist.
@CarolJoy – Mentioning Dr. Seuss’ transgression according to the thought police sparked a memory. In 1979 I found myself managing the book area of a large department store. As part of my job, I visited the headquarters of one of my book sources. This all looked as I expected until I got to the area where children’s books were managed. I was astounded to find that they had people dedicated to scouring the books they might carry looking for anything they considered offensive. I wondered just where their criteria came from and if any of the books I read as a child would pass muster. Apparently, people buying the books can’t be trusted to make their own decisions. They have been at this for quite a while…
‘ID Politics’ should be recognized for what it is, an oxymoron. Political parties seek to unite people and look beyond their differences in pursuit of shared goals to either preserve or change the status quo by gaining political office. Elevating subgroups in the misguided attempt to gain supporters for a cause that is on shaky ground with other parts of the group is inherently self-destructive. It is also dishonest. ‘ID Politics’ is essentially tribal in nature. It is a regression from American politics.
The Left in a nutshell.
Indeed. Thank you for providing the introduction and the link. This is going to be an interesting election or two, I think.
With liberty and justice for all, but mostly my guys.
