A great day, the opening of our embassy in Jerusalem!
But, determined to overshadow, nay, blot it out, are certain poor, oh-so-understandably-violent, disadvantaged individuals from Gaza.
They are rushing to commit suicide by soldier, throwing themselves at Israel’s defensive weaponry, after being advised by leaflets and otherwise that they will be killed if they do so.
They want their land back! They demand total and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli settlements in Gaza!
Oh, wait … it’s been 13 years since, uh, they got all that. Anybody remember?
I can see why these people feel like they’ve got nothing to lose. They only get, like, two hours max of electricity a day, just to show you how wretched they are since 2005. Oh, they coulda had the benefits of the functioning infrastructure Israel had built and left them — but nah. Building tunnels was much more important.
And as the world knows, and as even Gazans recognize, it’s not Israel that is responsible for their present wretched condition — it’s Palestinians themselves. They are in charge and have been for 13 years.
Are there any cameras at the heavily guarded and fortified border between Gaza and Eqypt today? Any desperate folk merrily rolling burning tires at the border with their co-religionists’ sovereign country?
(Oh, that’s right: Since 2009, with US help, Egypt has been building a steel wall on that border. It’s workin’ great!)
