Freeze Warning for the Infernal Regions

CNN has actually praised the current first lady, Melania Trump! Just in case it disappears under a torrent of leftist bile:

They credit Melania Trump with excellent fashion sense.

Without speaking a word, dressed in a white Michael Kors Collection asymmetrical blazer and skirt — and an eye-catching, custom-made Hervé Pierre hat — Melania Trump spoke volumes. This was her house, her dinner and her terms.

And credit her with equal diplomatic sense.

The first lady paid homage to France with a Chanel Haute Couture gown, hand-painted with silver and embroidered with crystals and sequins.

CNN acknowledges, without snark, that the first lady “spent weeks educating herself about the protocol and history of special White House occasions.”

Every last detail for Tuesday evening’s state dinner has been thoughtfully and carefully overseen by the first lady, who, unlike some of her predecessors, did not hire an event planner or other outside consultants for the event.

Diplomatic details extended to the choice of an Oregon wine, from imported French grapevines, and “a subtle nod to bipartisanship: [g]uests will dine on Bill Clinton and George W. Bush presidential china settings.”

CNN even acknowledges that Mrs. Trump has

…practiced a quiet diplomacy at contrast with her husband, not hesitating to assert her independence and saying more with her fashion choices, her selective public appearances and her attention to details than with her words.

It is a good thing President Trump ended the War on Coal–the Devil just ordered a train-load for the cold snap.

Melania Trump has Class, with a capital “C”.  Which is more than I can say for her immediate predecessor.

For someone who gave every indication during the campaign that she did not like the role of First Lady, she has certainly carried out the role with skill.

Thank you for this post. I think she is a perfect first lady. She is moving mountains in her own quiet way. :-)

She’s the most graceful first lady in my memory. Others performed the role adequately, but WoW, she’s going to be a tough act to follow! Did you all see the comparison of the WH Christmas decorations between Michelle and Melania? OMG, it was K-Mart versus Tiffany’s.

A kerfuffle pushed by that bastion of journalistic excellence,  People magazine.  But, of course, picked up by even lesser lights such as CNN.

BTW, loved the white chapeau–and I’m straight.

Airline pilots will report in-flight emergencies for engine strikes by pigs when the pop culture rags start doing “who wore it best” with Melania and Kate.  Sure, sure, you’re straight, which Kate?

    She can wear a hat.

Ah yes.   And the positive media coverage she got  was her reward for that.     Message sent being, if you want coverage that doesn’t paint you as Eva Braun, distance yourself from Donald.

Too bad I could not find similar coverage in this country.

You guys are giving the press way too much credit for its soft articles on Melania.

They’re soft because she is a not-Trump. In fact, her credentials as a not-Trump are growing stronger day by day. She has been caught not holding his hand.  I’ve read that there are “troubles” within the marriage.  It’s even been rumored that she, like a dutiful Victorian wife, has to grin and bear it during sex with Trump. (OK, I made that last one up.)

At any rate, she can be treated fairly because she’s a not-Trump.  She’s learning, like a lot of people, that you can get good press if you distance yourself from Trump.  You can get even better press if you say something mean and slanderous.  That could be Melania’s next step.

Fake news. Watch the videos from the State Dinner. She’s caught holding his hand both while greeting the Macrons and while entering the dining room. You can pretty much only trust the media when they’re saying nice things about the Trumps.

Jerry says she’s still fond of Mick, but his fathering a child with somebody else was kind of a deal breaker.

Besides, Rupert is likely closer to the end of the line, while Jerry has time for a few more husbands and even a return engagement with Mick.

Yah, but they can still ask her what she thinks about the fact that her husband had sex with a porn star while she was pregnant. Which I guess will sour the mood somewhat.

What articles? The OP was driven by the lack of favorable coverage of Melania, contrasting with preceding First Ladies. Not one fashion/ lifestyle magazine had come around to give her a feature, let alone a cover. The hand-hold thing is recycled fake news, generated by Trump haters, so why buy it?

Melania is THE most beautiful First Lady our country has ever had.

It is to laugh, all these over-made- up newscasters who don’t even speak English well, making fun of a woman who speaks six languages….she has all the  grace and poise of any of her predecessors,

but none  of them were also gorgeous.

Haters gonna hate, nothin’ we can do about it.
