The Rose

It’s morning in the Garden of Eden:

Adam: Hey Eve, I have a present for you. [He hands her a rose.]

Eve: What is it?

Adam: It’s a rose.

Eve: Ow! It hurt me!

Adam: Oh, watch out for the thorns.

Eve: [Throws the rose on the ground] I don’t want it.

Adam: [Picks up the rose.] But it smells sweet, and it’s lovely to look at.

Eve: I don’t care. It has thorns.

Adam: But it needs those thorns for protection. You just have to handle it carefully.

Eve: I don’t care. Get rid of it. I’m never-rose.

Adam: No, we’re keeping it. I can look past the thorns and enjoy the way it looks and smells. Speaking of smells, what’s that wonderful aroma coming from the kitchen?

Eve: Apple pie. Want some?
