Forty-Seven Seconds of Hillary
Astonishing. To paraphrase Talleyrand on the Bourbons, elle n’a rien appris, ni rien oublié.

The future is also another country.
The don’t even try to hide how much they hate red state Americans anymore. I really do wonder how they are perceived by normal people in other countries. My husband is from Scotland; one of his favorite entertainers is and always has been Dolly Parton. His friends in Scotland go on and on about Elvis, and how much they love him. We were all set to take one of our Scottish friends to Graceland for what would have been for him the trip of a lifetime; sadly, this friend died before we could make that trip.
I am no expert on Europeans, but I am starting to wonder if American leftists are giving Europeans a bad name. The Europeans I know absolutely love Southern culture. Everything they love about America is everything American liberals disdain about America. Of course, this is all anecdotal, but it just makes me wonder.
If anyone is worried, read this.
Insight shamelessly stolen from Michael Brendan Dougherty:
On the right, I often hear sentiments to the effect that many on our side want to be “morally right” more than we want to win and implement policy. Interestingly enough, this is an example of the same tendency on the left:
I admit I don’t fully understand GDP. Some economists include the sale of a home in calculating GDP because it is a measure of economic activity. If that is in the official figures, it is not a true measure of whether CA is an “engine” of the American economy.
Over the Holidays, I spent some time with friends. One of the women, one whom I have known for 23 years, was making the stupidest statements about Trump I’ve heard in person. I bit my tongue – the notch took a while to heal – and said nothing. It’s called manners. I was a guest and I like to think I have manners. Later, the hostess thanked me for keeping the peace. I asked how her niece could be so dumb and she said, “She married a Hispanic.” Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? She’s afraid of Trump because of his positions on immigration. The woman’s husband and his relatives are all here legally and are citizens. Again, WTF? The answer was that it’s an “emotional” issue for her. That sums it up. A lot of this is emotional and one can’t reason people out of positions they didn’t reason themselves into.
Me neither (I don’t fully understand GDP I mean). I’m not so sure service type production belongs in the same category as production of things. I’m sure there’s all kinds of complications and blurring of distinctions – not an easy distinction to make for sure so I won’t spit on economists for trying to do their best and finding usefulness in less than perfect measures. But, yes, I have similar concerns.
Once you read that, and realize you’ve just wasted time on Schlichter’s civil war fanfic, read this, and realize why everything leading up to the civil war would favor the lefties.
That is the funniest thing I have read this year. ANTIFA? Get real.
It’s only human nature to devise any theory ….. anything you can say to yourself and those who will listen ….. anything you can think of to help delude yourself from having to admit that voters disliked Hillary Rodham Clinton to the point where voters would even prefer having Donald Trump as their President.
You read the tweet, not the linked article
When I hear talk of a “civil war” today, I almost laugh out loud. Can anyone say with a straight face what a civil war would mean today. Unless I was completely mis-lead in my history classes, the real Civil War involved states. Today’s civil war involves not states, but the idiot next door. I live in CA and am surrounded by leftists and right-leaning gun owners. If a civil war actually broke out, they’d be shooting each other with no supporting structure. No states; no logistics; no supply lines; no overall strategy. Not a single tank or UCAV. We have no choice but to … OK. Maybe there will be a civil war, but it won’t look like the last one. And I’m not about to predict the winner. If there is a real “winner”.
Hillary can’t understand why she lost.
I have been finding them anything but “nice” of late. Angry, bitter, vile, and vengeful at this point. If anything, there is a large segment of voters out there who hear Hillary’s bile, and cheer. They will be out for blood this fall, and in 2020.
Do the Indian people know what’s happened to the black unemployment rate in this country??
Oh, never mind. What was I thinking? They probably get their (fake) American news from CNN.
Never underestimate how uninformed or misinformed people in other countries can be about America. And the better educated they are, the more misinformed they are. My husband’s sister and her husband both have advanced degrees; they informed us that half of all Americans work for the military industrial complex. Nothing we said could change their minds about this.
My mother in law is an angel from heaven, but the poor woman used to be worried sick about the health care her son would or wouldn’t receive in America; she saw some documentary on British television which showed uninsured Americans lined up in a park somewhere under a tent to see doctors; America was portrayed as some kind of third world country when it comes to health care. Her views on this seem to have changed, though: when she hears about the care my elderly parents receive-the fact that they can get second opinions, and things like that, she sounds envious. We worry about her a lot, and about the care that she will or won’t receive in Scotland, where second opinions are not allowed under the National Health.
At least she didn’t fall over again.
Jelly rolls? Egg rolls? Tootsie rolls?
Trump slimes individuals.
Hillary slimes broad demographics.
This should be what everyone takes from her tirade. Clinton herself is not so dangerous as the fully half of American voters who think like her. That level of widespread contempt, fear, and hatred of neighbors makes all sorts of horrors possible, both in politics and beyond.
“Hillary’s the devil” is so 2016-7. Let President Trump rise or fall on his own accomplishments. The Hillary bogeywoman no longer serves any purpose.
Both of his scenarios are pretty straightforward. I could certainly imagine that an actual insurrection would favor the dispersed, armed, rural faction over the concentrated, disarmed, urban faction, especially given the political demographics of the military and police forces.
Of course the left will cover its own. We’ve already seen them bend over backwards to help antifa. It’s just another militarized wing of the democratic party, like the KKK. They are still utterly useless in the face of actual resistance.
Great quote.
However, a lot of the inflated-ego salesman stuff that I disliked about Trump was essentially identical to the qualities of a guy named Steve Jobs — who the Left loved. Steve Jobs’ company produced some amazing results, but Jobs was apparently a tyrant of a boss.
The Leftist like Hillary and Obama seem to have some real contempt for the non-college-educated common folk, especially white men — and perhaps their spouses. At least Steve Jobs and Donald Trump had to worry about some market forces. Perhaps the next Democrat politician would be a businessman, if they could every find one. A lot of Democrat politicians do not seem to have the ability accomplish anything in the private sector. It seems like almost the entire Democrat Party is a party of grifters.
As my favorite nephew once shared with me (after a frustrating weekend spent with his sister and other UC Berkeley grads): “Auntie Annie, they can’t even grow their own pot.”
I love this comment.
@Judithann: I’ve told stories to all my relatives in Scotland; they are convinced we are stopped at he door of a hospital and not allowed entry until proof of insurance is shown.
I’ve twice had babies ripped from my arms and their lives saved before anyone even asked me my name.
She may have lost the election here, but she’s big in India.
“I won areas representing 2/3rds of America’s GDP” Did Hillary Clinton just take responsibility, as a Democrat, for economic inequality? Because she didn’t win 2/3rd of the vote.
According to horror movie rules she’s going to jump out at you any minute now.
Sure, but does middle America make movies? Or apps? Besides which, flyover country has some of the lowest-paid professional dog walkers in all of the US, so I mean, sure sometimes people eat food and all, but where are they gonna learn about what’s cool?
