Get Woke, Go Broke: Democratic National Committee Version

“When the enemy is making a false movement, we must take good care not to interrupt him.” — Napoleon Bonaparte

If you watch CNN or MSNBC, you would think that Trump is on the verge of collapse and that the forces of (social) justice and (social) good (aka, the Democratic Party) are going to swoop down annnnnnny second now and free us from his evil grasp.

But that swooping isn’t free, and right now, the Democrats are grounded because of a lack of funds.

How bad is it? The Democratic National Committee has $6.3 million cash on-hand, and $6.1 million in outstanding debts. In other words, they are $200,000 away from owing more than they are worth.*

The DNC wisely chose to release information on their catastrophic fundraising numbers the same night as President Trump’s State of the Union address, correctly surmising that news organizations would be more interested in covering Trump than covering continuing horror story that is the Democratic National Committee. Democrats up and down the ticket are going to be relying on the DNC to help fund their get-out-the-vote efforts this year, but with that meager amount of cash on hand, the DNC will be lucky to stay out of bankruptcy.

* I will leave to you, dear reader, to decide if they are worth even that paltry sum.

I can think of some so-called Republicans willing to send them cash.

Oh, I wonder….The Dems have the press in their corner for some protection. Will the press, (which has for 12 months bet on its fake drama holding a rapt uncurious audience) not come to the rescue? Since the press also doesn’t want to cut established rates, expect more creative stories, to keep from having to find a new boogeyman, or leave its followers crestfallen. People do get attached to their ongoing operas  and hold conclusions for life, so new dramas have to be tested and introduced gradually. Think of some past trials and sports stories. Finally, in the meantime there is always George Soros to the rescue….

There were 5 different responses to the SOTU speech. There fund raising is not good. The latest Monmouth poll has the Dems +2 in the generic congressional ballot. (in mid December this poll was Dem+15)

The only thing uniting this party is hating Trump. You can hate Trump for free in person, on twitter or on facebook. Dems need to find a reason for people to send them money or vote for them,  a reason that is more than down with Trump.

I’m not sure it’s that simple.  From what I’ve been reading the energy and fundraising has just moved away from the national party committees.  But a lot of that slack is taken up by state committees, super-Pacs, candidate campaigns, etc.  The national party committees are just one piece of the puzzle.  Plus the DNC is in particular disrepute after the Wasserman-Shultz/Clinton reign of corruption.  A lot of dem donors just don’t trust it at this point.  That doesn’t mean they won’t give.  Just that they’ll do it elsewhere.

After what HRC did to the DNC nobody is going to give them money since they do not know who is in control.  Added to that is that the DNC is accountable in ways the PAC and other organizations are not.  Why send money where it can be track when you can send money to where it can’t?
