I despise the media. Quit rumor-mongering and report the damn news!
A free press is critical to a liberal democracy. We don’t have that. We have organizations acting as the propaganda arm of the Democrat party. They should all be fired! Where’s the accountability??
And they say we should get all a-twitter because some Democrats said Trump said crude things about Haiti and some African countries during a private conference. Yeah, right!
Eventually they will get one right because of the blind hog principle. They will use that one correct prediction to show how smart they were while completely memory-holing the 99 incorrect predictions.
I can only hope that the General Kelly speculation isn’t an outlier. He’s done a lot to end the amateur hour theatrics over which Priebus and Bannon presided.
I knew his list was too short.
You would think that after a while they would get tired of being jobbed by their “unnamed highly placed” sources.
The average person still gets his news through the drive-by media. Until that changes, the media will not change.
In the media you have to look at sources the way the Civil Service views politicians:
I’m not really keeping score, but I presume they’ve gotten more than one right, already. That is, plenty of people have left, or been let go, and I further presume there were rumors about at least a few of them going, before it became official.
Then again, when you presume, you make a pres out of u and me…
There is a market for this sort of gossip journalism and with collapsing circulation numbers outlets appear to be grabbing for anything that might keep them afloat.
Oh, I think they’re their own unnamed sources. They make shtuff up to keep the narrative going. They have no credibility with me.
I’ve been reading “an unnamed source” as “my imaginary friend” for months now.
Once Trump’s plans were exposed by our free press, he was forced to change them.
To be fair, they did predict Priebus would go.
Three months before he actually went, mind you, but they did get that one.
Technically they are exercising their freedom to be the Democrat’s propaganda arm.
I would say that freedom of speech is critical to a liberal democracy. A disinterested, objective press is not critical – at least, I hope so, because such a press has never existed and has zero chance of existing in the future.
What is severely deleterious to a liberal democracy is the pretense that the existing propaganda press is disinterested and objective (or even aspires to be so). It is therefore vital to the survival of the republic that the undeserved and unhealthy regard in which the existing propaganda press is held is destroyed and degraded.
Thank God we have a president who is doing admirable work in that regard!
Wouldn’t be better just for the sake of honesty if the news outlets and reporters stated up front whose side they were on? At least get rid of one lie…neutrality.
That’s the real problem. Why should they be honest when they don’t believe in objective truth? Or, as Oprah would say, there’s nothing more powerful (read, more important to acquiring power) than to speak your truth. Which is no truth at all.
There is no pravda in Pravda.
Pretense is important because they are liars. They provide fake news about anything that has a political component. They skew election results and they collude with the Democratic Party to work against the principles of democracy.
