It’s True, the Media Hates Trump

Whether fake news is wall-to-wall or not is a matter of controversy, but one thing is quite clear: media coverage of Trump is wildly antagonistic. The objectivity of the Fourth Branch is not merely in question, but can be proven to be nonexistent.

This is not, however, simply a Trump phenomenon. The loss of objectivity did not begin at this year’s inauguration, but rather began much earlier with leg tingles and gestures of worship from those who purport to report fairly and without bias. We can safely say that such proclamations are clearly lies in our increasingly divisive culture. Teams have been drawn up, sides chosen, and the mainstream media has thrown its hat in with the left and the Democratic Party.

This is the landscape of today:

But it all began here.

Some might consider it evidence that Trump is obviously unfit for office. “Why, just look at the negative news coverage!”

We do not have an independent media in this country. We have a media fully captured by one political party.

You are exactly right. It’s like the Communist Party’s state journalism organizations.

The MSM have their own self-serving political agenda. I believe the Democrats are more the puppets of the media than vice-versa. This also explains why so many Republicans defer to the media.

I don’t think enough people understand how unbelievably powerful these corporations are. They can make or break any individual any faction or tribe. Having their approval can mean astronomical success and great wealth, having their scorn brings unbelievable suffering and failure.

They have the eyes and ears of the American public for about 8 hours a day on average, and the echo chamber effect, that is, water cooler chatter, what everyone is talking about on social media makes it dominate everything. They even have the public’s admiration through their proxies, movie stars and funnymen on late night TV, to push the narrative and dole out praise and scorn.

The corporate media are fueled and enabled by other large global companies their advertisers (who also must suplicate themselves to them lest they become the subject of their ire) so naturally they have a huge stake in what happens politically. Rather than play both sides of the aisle to pass their agenda, why not pick a side and just propagandize? You can always force enough Republicans to go along anyway.

The news divisions are simply PR writ large for their agenda. They don’t have to be objective, or even have these divisions be profitable, they make their money on the back end.

The Media are biased, as this shows. Saying that about them is not “Full of it”.

Considering that the Media are wholly biased to the Left, having them be upset all the time could lead one to think “Hmm, this guy must be doing something right”. That is not necessarily true, but not an unreasonable hypothosis.

Well, that and the fact that their little fanboys insist that they’re not biased. I’ve been in so many internet conversations about media bias, and generally the leftists are convinced the media is perfectly fair, reasonable, and unbiased. Honest truth-tellers. Or they’re convinced it’s biased toward Republicans. Which is the stupidest thing ever. But I did say “internet conversations.”

The media has made their bias so clear over the last decade that even leftists are no longer arguing that they’re unbiased. More like “BUT THIS IS NECESSARY GIVEN HOW AWFUL CONSERVATIVES ARE!”

My biggest concern is that we have an overly influential media that has declared publicly that it has no interest in being objective or fair. The editor of the NY Times admitted this. So where does this lead us? Can we balance out the distortions? Are people on either side even interested? This is not just annoying coverage–it is disturbing and ultimately dangerous, especially if they state “unequivocally” that something terrible is about to happen to this country and we have to act– What then?

Exactly, Susan. Unfortunately, not everybody is tuned in to events like us junkies here. Most voting citizens take their 30 second sound bites and run with them. They don’t bother to question the validity of whatever they are being told. Any correction to wrong information is buried on page 9 or barely mentioned on the TV, never to be seen or heard.

I worry about the same thing. The media has too much power to shape the nation, yet as a liberty-minded individual, I firmly believe in the media’s first amendment rights (even as they seek to take mine away).

The only answer I can see is to challenge their dominance with media outlets of our own. But that involves more than just buying up their failing news outlets. It involves a long march through the institutions, reeducating our young people to reject leftism.

This is exactly my concern. The one bright spot in all this is how obvious the bias has become. Information is a good thing to have, and the American people are smart enough to use it in their decision making processes. Hopefully greater knowledge of just how biased the media has become since Obama will give them the cypher they need to appropriately judge the information they receive. Sadly, however, confirmation bias is something each person is subject to and for which he must account. I’m hopeful that destruction of reliance on a fair media will force enough people back into the hard job of being citizens.

Right now there are huge anti-regime protests happening in Iran. Searching Google News with the phrase “Iran Protests” shows nothing from U.S. Major Media.

    Why is that?

I’m sure that if Trump does anything to help the protesters (if his administration was not the trigger through covert means), I am sure the press will go wild about it.

I rarely watch them anymore. I get my news from Drudge, Instapundit, Lucianne.com, Gateway Pundit, Breitbart, Conservative Treehouse (great for Sarah Sanders Press briefings, Cabinet level speeches and impromptu Presidential press conferences- along with cutting edge analysis of Deep State intrigue) and all the links to newspapers and blog sites. Of course I hear what the media is saying in passing through various YouTube clips. But I generally start with the source and work backwards. The questions to Sarah Sanders give me a great insight as to the medias chosen lines of attack for the cycle.

But watching television news live? It’s toxic. It’s  mental pollution and it invades even the most stalwart conservative. I know because it even affects me. They are professional brainwashers, and if you don’t become enraged over their sloppy bumper sticker pronouncements it means they are gaining ground subverting you.

I choose not to torture myself. But the good news is there are YouTube channels and lots of new converts seeking refuge from crazy leftists.

I think they are losing their grip, pretty rapidly in fact.

This is true. And consider the omnipresence of television news in waiting rooms and airport lounges and other public places. They’re akin to Orwell’s telescreens.

Little game I play on CNN.com the last several weeks – spot the biased Trump headline.  There is almost always at least one.  I really need to start writing them down.

    At this moment:

“Analysis:  The President doesn’t know the difference between climate and weather”

[When’s the last time you saw that headline during the summer when the climate changers are citing the latest heatwave of proof that the earth is warming?]

There’s also a headline on  CNN right now about it being so cold that sharks are dying.

1:  I thought the problem with climate change was that the oceans were warming?

2:  I don’t care how cold it is, I know a little something about water and thermal inertia, and a two day (or two week, or two month, or two YEAR) cold snap is not going to cool the oceans enough to start killing sharks.

I’m convinced part of the media’s game is to just knock the stuffing out of us, to get as many as possible to just give up, hence the ‘inevitable Hillary’ for 25 years, ‘ Trump will be impeached’ all this year, ramp up the bad news , downplay the good news , every half hour on the radio, day after day, endless negative polls. Dampen our enthusiasm until we just can’t take it and let them win.
