It is my understanding that this because of an ongoing property line dispute. They were neighbors.
I don’t understand why someone’s voter registration has anything to do with an assault, either as victim or perpetrator.
Or why a journalist, or supposed journalist, would put information in a report that has the flavor of a Google search, rather than actual investigative reporting.
Unless there is evidence that voting or politics is part of the assault, that information is nothing but inflammatory gossip reporting.
Just a spat between two suburban neighbors who don’t see eye to eye on how the lawns should be mowed. Happens all the time.
The facebook connection to Trump posts is also low brow.
Shabby Shame on Fox News.
Y’all are missing the amazing part: there is still a United States Senator (and former Presidential candidate) who cuts his own grass!
Well, that’s what happens when there aren’t enough illegal immigrants to do it.
@arahant
You’re right. If Rand’s landscaper had been assaulted, the story would have been about lazy, greedy Rand has hired help.
Yay! It’s working! This is why Trump.
Y’all guys defending the Democrat kind of missed the point. If it had been some Republican (especially a Deplorable) who had cold-cocked Chuck Schumer (who I doubt has ever mowed his own lawn) do you think it would be a big news story, or below-the-fold?
Well, of course. But Fox should be better than LameStream.
Even a parody story would have been better. I’m sorry Fox got the click I gave to read the story.
Like: did the reporter talk to anyone to find out WHY the neighbor assaulted Rand?
That was 10th grade reporting.
To borrow Trump’s phrases:
Sad. Very sad. Hu-uuu-gely sad.
Fake News.
Fox News is a Big Loser.
Rand isn’t talking, as they quoted only his spokesman. The bad guy is in jail. Should they pay off the police chief to get the inside story like the MSM might do? Should they kick in Rand’s front door and demand an interview? Please, do tell, because it sounds to me like you actually want Fox News to act like the MSM.
Link? Proof? Post it.
Then maybe there was no story. I think that is my point.
The one line of Rand was attacked wouldn’t cut it, so they filled their story with stuff? Irrelevant stuff?
And Rand is smart to say nothing. Nothing he says will be taken at face value, but twisted.
And if the neighbors don’t talk, that says good things about them.
No I don’t want the media to break down doors for a story. But neither should they make stuff up, just to fill their page and air time.
See…now your a journalist. Expecting support for a claim of fact.
?
His neighbor on the other side called me?
I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. I just went and re-read the story from my link and saw nothing untrue. Which part was “made up” as you put it? Please copy the untrue part and paste it here, and I’ll follow up on it. Thanks.
Right. Got it. You made it up.
No actually I didn’t but I read stuff all day and I didn’t remember where I saw that and I don’t plan to spend a minute looking for it. It’s out there, you find it, it’s past my bedtime.
Made up, as in relevant to the assault, which is the “story.”
A man with the same name…is in x profession. Is this THE same man, or someone who shares the name? That they worded it the way they did suggests: not verified.
Someone on facebook with anti-trump statements…
Not necessarily untrue, but what is the connection to the main story?
But no motive for the assault. Which WOULD be part of the story.
It is a non-story other then the lead. Rand assaulted by neighbor. Perpetrator in custody. Senator Rand okay, and may finish mowing the lawn tomorrow. Updates pending further investigation. ###
Austin Bay over on Instapundit summed it up nicely: “Republican 2016 Presidential Candidate Who Survived Assassination Attempt By Bernie Sanders Supporter Is Physically Assaulted By Angry Kentucky Democrat.”
You can certainly say that they had facts in the story that were not relevant to the story, but you can’t say they made up the facts. “Made up” means lying.
“A person with his name also works as an anesthesiologist in Bowling Green.” A fact, but irrelevant. I also wonder why that was included.
“A Facebook account that is alleged to be maintained by Boucher was found to contain multiple anti-Trump postings.” A fact that could imply the motive, since the police aren’t forthcoming with the motive. He wouldn’t be the first Trump Hater to attack a Republican.
You hate Fox News; I get it. No problem. Most of the Left hates Fox News. But you can’t call them liars without listing the lie. Adios.
Yes, strange reactions here, JcT. Why isn’t this in the news? I see it’s on the right column at Drudge but is he not an A list celebrity? Is he persona non grata for the media somehow? And conservatives don’t like him so they aren’t interested perhaps?
I do completely agree with you that if this was a prominent or middling Democrat that it would be covered with venom and glee in their sick mixture that only leftists can concoct.
Poor guy can’t catch a break. I’m starting to think none of us can, with the way the Left is totally freaking out.
I don’t hate Fox News. I don’t watch Fox, or the others. Your post caused me to seek facts that clarified.
I agree with your premise that the story would have been “different” in scale and perceived worthiness, had roles been reversed. If done in the same shoddy manner, I would also have rejected it, the same.
If news is random factoids tacked together, designed to suggest, rather than clarify, or reveal the truth, I’m not interested. From Fox, or anybody else.
I take your point about “made up.” Bad word choice on my part.
Gluten Nacht.
Guten Nacht. (darn auto correct)
I think it is hilarious I am presumed a leftist because I don’t bow to Fox News.
Seriously, tears in my eyes.
I get my news days later than it happens from Three Martini Lunch at 7am, and @andrewklavan at 11:11 am. The closest I get to current current events is Member & Main Feed Ricochet.
I’m triggered. ;^D
Well, you missed the auto correct tutorial in Chix PIT…
Guten not Gluten. Guten not Nguyen. Gluten not Flute. Fox, not Fix. Fox not Doc, unless its @docjay.
Autocorrect is more like twist my words. I bet autocorrect is built and run by a 10th grade journalist. LoLz.
I’m confused by the suggestion that this is not getting reported. I first saw headlines on Wapo, the BBC, and Fox; looking now, it looks like everyone is reporting it. Every story I read speculates that there might be a political motive, but it might also be a dispute between neighbors, and because no one is talking, it’s hard to say which at this point. What else is anyone supposed to say about it?
I didn’t see it in a headline, such as it would be (in my opinion) if Chuck Schumer had been attacked at his home. I had to scroll down “below the fold” at WaPo’s site to find it. On CNN.com is was just another line somewhere on the page and even that is gone now. WSJ had it below the fold and it’s gone now. Of course FoxNews.com covered it; that what I linked.
That was the direction I chose for this story. Imagine how huge the story would have been, if it had been a Democrat Senator attacked by a registered Republican. That’s all.
My neighbor in okla chewed me out for mowing a little over the line but there was no physical Attack involved. I promised never to mow a blade of his grass again and that was the end of it. But some folks just can’t control themselves out seems.
