Loose Bull!

I hadn’t remembered that story in decades, but it resurfaced in a bizarre daydream yesterday. A recent Ricochet Question of the Day was why is Trump’s popularity rising? My mind was already reeling from days, weeks, months, even years of insane headlines, some on Ricochet. The story about the MIT entrance application asking to check one of 50-plus genders and list the perspective student’s sexual preferences, to a self-described anarcho-communist college professor spewing hate toward cops. Spinning in my mind were comments from Barbara Streisand and Cher to stop using my hairdryer and use only one piece of toilet paper … to save the environment. I might as well go in the yard and use a leaf.

Riots and protests from Boston to Berkeley, men now too manly, and sensitivity training commencing on campuses and throughout the military. Calling someone something other than their preferred surname can result in your job dismissal. So if your student, patient, or employee wants to be called Lobster Lewinsky, get it right or face consequences. Black-only proms and workdays – white privilege stay home. My head hurts from the nonsense. Van Jones crying on CNN because Trump only denounced White Supremacists three times instead of six, to Hollywood teeth gnashing and temper tantrums worthy of a diaper change, rappers rendered clothing – oh wait – that’s a fashion statement. I can’t stand it. Then yesterday it all became clear.

When the ongoing insanity in the sports world of overly paid players taking a knee during our National Anthem led to President Trump, in his subtle New York way, say wouldn’t it be great if just one coach, seeing his player take a knee during the National Anthem, in total disrespect to our flag and country say, “Get that S.O.B. off the field – you’re fired! Wouldn’t that be great?” It’s gotten so bad that third graders at one elementary school asked why their sports heroes were taking a knee during the anthem and if they could do it. Innocent children wanting to imitate their heroes. Nice.

After hearing Judge Jeanine Pirro, in another true, quiet New York style delivery of a not to be missed rebuttal to this kneeling business, called, “How Are You A Force for Good, Roger Goodell?” it became clear why Trump, with the tweets and comments, continues to rise in the polls.

Yes, I’m getting to my daydream part. Picture a delicate china shop with all the shiny pieces representing these absurd ideas behind glass, hand-cut crystal goblets all sparkly as Hollywood’s elite, the vintage Wedgewood political establishment plates that can’t seem to find the go pedal, the anarcho-communist, anti-fascist leaf wipers lined up on glass shelves as fragile tea cups, you know where this is going.

A brisk wind from the East, New York that is, blows the door wide open and in rushes a large, nose-ringed bull, knocking down the façade, the loud, crashing sounds of breaking glass, shelves of false sensitivity tumbling into a worthless heap of meaningless rubble. That’s why Trump keeps rising in the polls. So the next time you see or hear absurdity, just holler, “loose bull!” Also, bull has multiple meanings, I’ll leave it at that.

OH I just posted that link in a group to cheer everyone up! When I watched her last night, it really lifted my spirits. Your description of the world today fits mine exactly. I keep waiting for that moment when they go too far and the pendulum swings back to the direction of normalcy, but if 50 genders on the MIT entrance form didn’t do it, then what will? I’ll keep waiting anyway.

Funny you say that because I was just thinking the other day that most people I know who voted for Trump wanted a bull in the china shop. They didn’t want him to build things so much as wreck things — the parties, the PC false politeness and speech codes, the mundane conspiring of politicians with corporations, the entrenched bureaucracies, etc.

They might have been mistaken to think Trump would be that bull or that whatever comes after would be better than before. If nothing else, they were tired of being patted on the head like children as politicians acted without regard of voters’ concerns.

The ruckus has gotten attention. That doesn’t mean the right lessons will be learned.

No one minds anyone protesting, but who does that on the job? Take out an ad, or go on a talk show – but I get it – all the cameras and sponsors are on them for that moment – it sends a terrible message to school kids that it’s ok to do whenever you want – I bet it will spread through the schools and the teachers will have to deal with it. In our parents day, you would never see this disrespect. You’d get slapped over the head by grandma if you disrespected the flag or our country. Where do you see this going?

I sincerely hope the cult of the president (and other elected offices) is finally crushed.

Building multi billion dollar Taj Mahal edifices to their reign. Calling them “Mr President” (or “Secretary” or “Madame Speaker”) years after they leave office. Treating them like royalty instead of employees.

    It has to stop.

Front Seat Cat: I might as well go in the yard and use a leaf.

I knew someone in college who did just that. She was out for a hike/walk/costitutional when nature called. She used a leaf.

    Poison ivy.

Yeah, today she’d probably fit into the anarcho-communist mold. Heck, she was pretty much anarcho-communist then. There’s a lesson here….

The first paragraph to my original post which spawned the title, the story idea, as well as the line about Zeus at the end winning, was missing so here it is:

Years ago, when my sister lived in Houston, she toted my little niece, nephew and neighbor child to the big 4H Club extravaganza. My niece was showing Zeus, one of her prized guinea pigs.  Zeus was sure to win a ribbon, to add to the others she collected in past showings.  Walking from the parking lot to the arena, she heard a muffled yell.  “Huh? What’d he say? What?  The muffled yell became a panicked holler – “Loose Bull!!”   Suddenly, a massive, ring-nosed bull came charging full speed around the corner, straight for them.  My sister grabbed the kids and lunged out of the way.  The large bull flew past, nostrils flared, headed toward the parking lot, denting cars in its path and running head first into the steel chain link fence, where they could finally retrieve him!

It was more about Trump being a loose bull and how that might affect his and future presidencies.

The problem with the good Judge Jeanine…she always minces her words. Who can even tell where she stands on any issue? Judge Jeanine, would you please quit pulling your punches?

Excellent.  He brings voice to the silent majority, a majority who are fed up by overly intellectuals of both the right and the left.  So overly intellectual that they’ve been educated right out of their own natural intelligence.

Hahaha!  That was one of the funniest music videos I have ever seen.  I’ve never heard of the group or the song.  Thanks.
