The Shadow Community of Parasites

On this, the day after the GOP has failed to repeal Obamacare, a dose of realism–and an antidote, to despair.

Go to 39:35 and listen to Sir Roger Scruton address your humble correspondent’s fears. (It lasts just under five minutes).

Scruton is strangely–what’s the word? Heartening, I suppose–don’t you think?

Yes I found him so. I will, as they say, have to watch the whole thing.

And, stop thinking I can plan better than God.

Start at 39:10 so you can hear Peter as his “last question.”

    Peter,

Let us hereby resolve to diminish the Shadow Community of Parasites wherever and whenever we can.

    Thank you, Mr. Scruton.

    Regards,

    Jim

“A shadow community of parasites whose only justification is that they pretend to be governing us.”  Brilliant!

Perhaps we spend too much time and mental energy worrying about what those who pretend to be governing us are up to.  Perhaps we should simply try ignoring them for a while and getting on with the rest of life.

He is an interesting man indeed.

Clarity is our friend here. We must continuously acknowledge these are parasites and they should be identified so we know their names. At least the top tier below the ones appointed by the president or others in government. We shouldn’t take their advice without mentioning this. This fact should be kept in mind at all times by them so that they don’t get the notion they are giving us service that we can’t do without. Parasites always take more than they give. We all need to remember this.

You two both hit on the very phrase that jumped out at me.

I listened again to Sir Roger on beauty last night. Excellent stuff.

It’s a nice thought but it’s hard to ignore the people who run the courts, jails, and police forces when it’s almost impossible for anyone not to bump up against one of those entities due to the weed-like growth of petty laws and regulations. Fifty or sixty years ago you might have been able to accomplish it, not today unfortunately.

To paraphrase Trotsky, you might not be interested in the government, but the government is interested in you, and ignoring them won’t make them go away… tends to make them vindictive actually.

Peter, I cannot thank you enough for this true masterpiece of an interview with this man of such towering and astonishing genius; I have now watched the entire video twice and will probably go back for a third serving of such delicious wisdom as the one which seems, from the comments above to the the favorite– the deep state as a “shadow community of parasites whose only justification is that they pretend to govern us.” Simply magnificent! And, when you asked him, to paraphrase, to talk about Trump, he said, if I understood him correctly, “I’d rather not.” That comment seems to so perfectly capture the way so many feel about our President, and I am clearly not only talking about the so-called “never Trumpers”! I will now not only get the book you quoted from, but will go in search of other videos of this seemingly limitless intellect. Thank you again for this video; one more reason I’m glad I stumbled into Ricochet and have been urging friends to get on board ever since.
