13 Panicked Reactions to Trump Dumping the Paris Accord

Many Americans tune out dire environmental predictions because of the increasingly apocalyptic claims of politicians and the media. I’ve been hearing “we only have five years left!” for the 40 years I’ve been paying attention. So when President Trump decided Thursday to remove the US from the all-but-meaningless Paris Climate Accord, eco warriors had a chance to forego doomsaying and try to actually persuade skeptics. Well, maybe next time…

Those opposing DJT’s decision continue to prove ‘they’re not deep thinkers! Not a single comment deals with the logic of DJT’s reasoning.

Seems, wealth redistribution which is the basis of the ‘climate’ deal, not climate change is what those who oppose the deal want. And that includes you, Elon Musk.

According to Barack Obama (Wasn’t he president of something or other at some time?), Trump is “Rejecting the Future” which I guess is similar to being on the wrong side of history. (Isn’t there the “right side of history” and the “wrong side of history”, so obviously the wrong side of history is the left side?)

Looks like the result was that Christopher Hayes found Jesus. So there’s something positive.

@exjon, Do you want me to reprint my Facebook friends’ unredacted reactions on a main feed post like this?

The descent into farce may be complete! This is yugely enjoyable to see. Real splodey heads! John Fugelsang’s tweet is so completely pathetic. He’ll regret being such a dunderhead one day, maybe.

We’ll attend to the more serious rejoinder after a bit more fun: if this was so extremely important a “treaty”, O should have had it ratified, after all it is so obviously a wonderful idea.

There is nothing remotely science-based in any of those statements. Some of them directly contradict the consensus climate theory.

Don’t you think I know that? Global consensus on an unenforceable agreement to self-report imaginary progress on changing the planet’s climate used to be there! But not any more!

It’s all just a rehashing of the “population bomb” scare of the 60’s.

So, Christopher Hayes hopes now that there is a Heaven and Hell? Curious…can we assume that he believes that he’s in line for Heaven based on his inherent self-righteousness and goodness?

As my uncle likes to say: “The greenies are still reds. They merely changed their colors.” The crazy reactions by the enviro crowd prove that sentiment.

It takes a lot of courage to stand up against the world community, against popular opinion and tremendous political pressure – even from the pope. I will never forget back around 1999-2000, when I read a statement from a large global entity on their website that read,

” We have to “create a crisis – one that the world can rally around, like global warming or climate change”. I thought why do you have to create a crisis if it’s real and it exists? I don’t doubt that climate change is real – I don’t think it’s all man-made. The U.S., as Trump stated, has and continues to do its part, but it is income-redistribution – that’s how that statement read to me from the global group. He is facing a firestorm, but I think he did the right thing. What stood out to me was when he said, giving money (100 billion so far) to a “fund” – no one know where it’s going?! Why not export technology so other countries can learn how to clean up?” Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man the tools to fish, and he can feed himself.

What’s always interesting with climate change is the lack of substantive knowledge by those most supportive of the most extreme actions. Forget about whether you agree or disagree about whether, or how, much warming is occurring due to human action. Taken on its proponents own terms here’s the situation:

If fully implemented the Paris Accords would reduce temperatures by less than 0.2 degrees C by 2100, based upon the worst case models. Hardly catastrophic if they are not implemented.

The individual country commitments are voluntary and unenforceable.

CO2 emissions in the U.S. have been on the decline since George W Bush was inaugurated and are likely to continue to decline.

Despite the U.S. not ratifying the Kyoto Treaty, which expired in 2012, U.S. emissions declined as much as E.U. emissions did from 1998 to 2012.

The U.S. is a rapidly declining % of global emissions, decreasing from 25% in 1990 to 15% today. China was half of U.S. emissions in 2000, equal to the U.S. by 2006 and today is equal to the U.S.+E.U. China has not committed to stabilizing its emissions until 2030.

Bottom line. If every other company met its Paris commitments and the U.S. did not, global temperatures would be about 0.025 degrees C higher in 2100 than they would otherwise be, based on the projections of the strongest advocates for action on climate change.

Hysteria is rampant on Facebook, evidenced by people typing into plastic devices made with energy generated by fossil fuels (mostly), in air-conditioned or heated houses, on streets with lights on all night long in case they have to go out and walk the dog and might get escared, and then all the roads they’ll drive on tomorrow to work have oil in them, in cars that have air conditioning and heat, and then to office buildings, with lights, heat and cold, all provided by fuels of fossils, and there, finally, maybe, at work, they’ll just shut the hell up and get back to work.

Otherwise, it’s been a pretty good day.
