    Love this poem and photograph.

I have always loved rain and rainy days. I am quite nearsighted and always have been, and the sun makes me squint. I think I love rainy days and green because I can open my eyes and relax. :)

I like it when the rain stops.

    Nice work, Trink.

Ya’ll are so kind.  Thank you from my heart.   I wrote that poem four decades ago.  My uncle taught English and speech.   A gruff no-nonsense fellow.   I timidly showed it to him and he frowned beneficently and remarked that as far as he was concerned it was as good as anything he’d seen recently.  From him:  that was pretty good.

The picture is more recent.  A lucky confluence of rain and a shaft of light.

I think that closing suggestion–about time stopping when the rain abates some–is gold. I know exactly what that means! Thanks for sharing the poem!

    & Happy Easter!

Nice, Trink, the way the last lines imitate the sound of rain. And I love the photo. We’ve had a lot of it here lately, and it really cooled the weather off.

Have I mentioned that Trink and I are sisters? This may or may not be a good place to do it.

Good — if you admire me for my family relationship to such talent. Bad — if you figure out who got all the talent.

BTW, I have a whole coffee table book of these. Nanee, nanee, naa nee!

You are much too modest, WC. I love when you write. Although now I’m jealous of your table book!

Whoa!  That looks a little dicey!   How many inches of rain do you have to get for this effect?

I don’t know how many inches it was, but it was a deluge for sure.

“…..if you figure out who got all the talent.”

Sis,  you are so sweet . . . and in need of a little reminding about true, productive, practical and loving talent.  I string words together and shove them under other’s noses.

Now. Let’s start with your being at the very top of your electrical engineering class.  Oh!  How’s about being so good at what you did at work that you got a trip into Cheyenne Mountain.  Yep.  NORAD.  I’d like to see a poem do that!

Your garden is your poetry.   Your giving of yourself to your family is your song.   And your kitchen is the palette from which your family draws sustenance in so many delectable ways.

My kitchen has a sign that says: The only reason we have a kitchen is because it came with the house.       But I do thank you for seeing some worthiness in my little offerings.  Thank you :)

Terrific poetry! I love to watch rain fall. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the dry part of the West, where it isn’t that common.

Growing up in the Pacific North-wet, we are used to lots of rain.  I love the sound of rain on the roof.  In my old condo that wasn’t quite as well-insulated as our current house, it would be really loud in my bedroom.  Great for lulling me to sleep.

Beautiful poetry, Trink!  Beautiful picture, too.

Beautiful. Whenever I stop to listen to the rain I recall Whittaker Chamber’s discussion of his brother (who committed suicide) calling for Whittaker to come look at the rain. I don’t have the exact quote, but it was the insight that his brother knew the rain was sad. I haven’t read Witness in 40 years, but that passage is a constant memory.

You’re very kind to let me do so.  After seven decades on this planet there aren’t too many topics about which I’ve not written a poem.  And people have been so kind and indulgent with my attempts.   Thank you so much for your important role as the steering committee :)
