“Dover and Out”: UK Tabloid Celebrates Brexit in Grand Style

British Prime Minister Theresa May officially triggered the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union on Tuesday. To celebrate, pro-sovereignty tabloid The Sun projected giant images on the iconic White Cliffs of Dover facing the continent.

“We have enormous optimism about our country,” The Sun’s editorial board said, “controlling our own laws and borders and trading independently with the vast and fast-growing nations of the wider world for the first time since the 1970s.”

They added, “As a paper that has railed against EU excesses for so long, helped keep Britain out of the disastrous euro and campaigned fiercely for Leave last year, The Sun is of course delighted.”

Unite or perish? Well that is certainly not hysterical fear mongering.

Yeah, when I say that slogan from Italy, I wondered, how much does the EU need Italy, versus how much Italy needs the EU?

It’s the principal. Italy may not be a particular asset to the EU, the nation is rife with difficulties, however any nation contemplating the UK’s lead is a threat to the entire project.

The possibility that voters could even consider it and weigh the pros and cons is dangerous to Brussels, the entire insane project is driven far more by ideology than by innate logic. Projects such as this mimic extreme religious dogma.

This needs a “Ben” in front of it.  Big Ben, perhaps?

    outlaw,

You know I don’t really understand why. She wrote the definitive Thatcher Biography. She got her doctorate at Oxford. A more nimble mind I can’t remember.

    Is a puzzlement!

    Meanwhile, in Italy:

This is particularly funny as the popular 5 Star movement is preparing to push Italy out of the Euro, a first step towards more independence from Brussels.

All I said is that a contributor who will remain nameless is 100 percent for the EU. I guess you can’t point out people’s positions anymore.
