Ramirez Magic
I awoke in the middle of the night, and as is my bad habit, I checked my email and found this with a note from Michael Ramirez:
Michael usually sends both the fine line drawing and a color version at the same time. I then make a page and write up the SEO, titles, find or write some content, then publish the color cartoon to a page that can be shared on social networks. The artwork becomes part of an ever growing library that is indexed by date and searchable by keywords on the website.
But today was special. This was about [the comedian] Rachel Maddow, who kept liberals waiting all evening for a big reveal only to offer a dud of a climax. Michael was asking me to wait for the color version, which usually takes a few hours of hard work on his part to complete. At 5 AM, I put the page together, which in retrospect, might not have been the best plan, and prepared fans by posting on Facebook that a big reveal was coming later in the morning, and they might want to share it with Rachel, lol.

Hahaha! Another great one.
Geraldo should send Rachel the bottle.
That was truly sad.
Poor sap didn’t even have the sense to plant some “artifacts” so he’d have something to show for his trouble!
That’s a great cartoon!
The editorial on the page ponts out that at least Geraldo didn’t know what lay behind the wall – but Ms. Maddow knew full what what she was making people wait for!
Maddog Maddow.
When you’ve got nothing, why hype it?
Works for Trump.
Oh give it a rest.
Are you saying that trump requires a “dont try this at home” notice to prevent the MSM from hurting themselves?
To me, that’s not the story. The story is how many people fell for it.
10pm:
Carlson: 3.015
Cooper: 1.097
Maddow: 4.13 <–

MSNBC has never beaten Fox News before, and probably never will again.
I love Michael’s work, and after seeing @davesussman interview him, I like him even better. And seeing the contrast between the b&W and color is fascinating. I have to admit, I appreciate the power of the plain ink version. Thanks, Melissa.
I was sort of surprised that Rachel did not create some tax forms out of whole cloth. Granted she try to tie her little two pages of a legitimate tax return that obtained illegally to every conspiracy theory out there and even created a few extra.
You know what, Rachel, when you’ve dug yourself into a hole, you’re supposed to stop digging.
My Grandmother used to say … if you’ve got nothing good to say, shut your trap.
Grandmother was a wise woman.
OH Hahahaha! It really does my heart good the way everyone across the spectrum is ridiculing her. I think it’s a good sign.
Too bad Trump doesn’t follow her advise.
What do you mean? It works perfectly for all of them. The goal is ratings, the mere fact that you get exposure builds credibility, because how can someone that everyone watches not be credible? Celebrity is all that matters and the only thing to be a celebrity is exposure.
Hahaha Valiuth! I’m starting to have a grudging admiration for your unwaveringness, Wait is that a word?
Thanks Melissa.
Question: How long does it take to make typical fine line drawing like above?
Pot calling kettle….
It can take several hours from the first sketch. HERE is a page that explains the process :)
In answer to the question of why Maddow would pimp a non-story;
She believes her audience has an appetite for this kind of stuff. It makes me more than a little uncomfortable to recognize the hyperventilated calls for impeachment and comparisons to national socialism we’re hearing from the left. The same people who laughed at “conspiracy fanatics” becuase they promoted theories about Obama’s origins and academic records, are now engaging in similar tactics, calling Trump and anyone who supports him a Nazi. I expect she was surprised at the blowback, but has attributed it to the “vast right-wing conspiracy” that dogs all liberals on the losing side.
@delmardave sent me an aritcle today which signals a new relationship between the Press and the Administration. It’s going to be a bumpy ride for everyone.
Rachel “MadCow” is never going to live it down, especially not after a cartoon like this!
Love it… reminds me of Weird Al’s spoof of Geraldo’s big reveal in the movie “UHF:” Al Capone’s glove compartment…
Sigh.
I followed this story around. Erin McPike (the one reporter allowed to travel with Rex Tillerson on his Asia trip) has filed a 1-on-1 interview with T-Rex a few hours ago. The media is really honked off about it too. I spotted this headline, “Trump administration ramps up efforts to block media” and it included the old “people are saying” fake quotes like this one: “a move critics say is dangerously reminiscent of state-controlled media”…
So if the MSM is forced to pay their own way on commercial flights, Trump is “blocking the media” and we are on the way to “state-controlled media.”
All that aside, I love these T-Rex quotes from the interview!
“I’m not a big media press access person. I personally don’t need it. … When we’re ready to talk about what we’re trying to do, I will be available to talk to people. But doing daily availability, I don’t have this appetite or hunger to be that.”
“When I have something important and useful to say, I know where everybody is and I know how to go out there and say it.”
