Best. President-Elect. Ever.

The candidates I preferred would not have nominated people so committed to reining in the excesses and reversing the mistakes of their new departments. The first instinct of every organization is to increase its own power; these are the best choices to fight that instinct. Likewise, the candidates I preferred would not have nominated an ambassador to Israel as strongly pro-Israel as David Friedman. Nor would they have successfully worked with Egypt to withdraw a UN resolution, or with the United Kingdom to (I strongly suspect) threaten to veto the next resolution if the outgoing US administration abstained.

They may have wanted to do these things, but they couldn’t have pulled them off. They would have been destroyed by the bullying press, just as they were destroyed by The Donald. They would have been forced to back down or compromise, and they would have learned never to act so boldly again.

Yes, the president-elect still scares me. Yes, his tweets often make me cringe. But in the current environment, he may be the only man who can turn back the various forms of totalitarian evil that are (or were) on the rise. And those people have spent the past two months proving that they are as unhinged, hateful, and dangerous as we thought. They would be more dangerous had November 8 gone differently.

So good luck, Mr. President-Elect. May your next eight years be as successful as your past few months.

It’s a beautiful thing to watch bullying Democrats get bullied by a guy who is basically a Reagan Democrat.

Have any of you noticed the body language of the military and security guards around President-elect Trump when he got off the Air Force plane this morning? Every one of them standing tall, straight, and at attention. Notice Trump? He snapped a salute right back at them! The men and women around him respect him and show it. Our newly elected president is taking his new job seriously, the clowning is over.

This is a post I could have written, too. Thanks for doing this. I was skeptical of Trump until sometime after he won South Carolina. I still was preferring Cruz until he dropped out but I was wrong about Trump — he is the better man for the job that we need getting done now.

I marvel at those who saw who he was early on. I didn’t see what he was — but I loved his ability to go after the press and to defend himself. This is something that I have been hoping and praying about for years. The Republicans and their stupid advisers (mostly now revealed as NeverTrumpers) were refusing to fight — not misunderstanding what had to be done. They refused and still refuse to do what is necessary in this existential fight with the powers of darkness (the modern left and the Islamists).

Thank you Larry for admitting that. He is going to get the job done.

I watched the Lincoln Memorial concert, and my eyes filled up. What a beautiful family and how appropriate. Lincoln is the Republican Party’s greatest president. To see newly elected President Trump there, so respectfully, to see the fireworks and hear the Battle Hymn of the Republic: this is our Republican Party legacy. I felt quite proud of Republicans. I haven’t ever watched an inaugural party, so perhaps all of our newly elected presidents have done this. But I liked the program very much.

How things work out: all those movie stars and actors who turned down an invitation to perform seems to have had a fantastic benefit of returning solemnity to what should be a very serious occasion.

He and his family have very good taste in everything they do. I was really impressed and happy. It was a very good day in Washington.

This was always the part of his campaign that I loved, even when I didn’t want him to get nominated.  And I second Gil in the OP, I think Trump is the only one with the fortitude to do what needs to be done.  Or at least some of what needs to be done.

The ability to go after the press was shown by Newt Gingrich, to a lesser extent.  His debate riff on the “moderator” was priceless, and I always wanted to see more of that.  Hence Trump, a fighter!  I’m so optimistic: HDAHA!  Three hours and 56 minutes until deliverance.

I think, if true, it is a horrible statement about the apolitical character and professionalism of our military.  I will continue to think it is your imagination. Statements such as this are not only untrue, but endanger the trust our nation has for the military.  I hate, with every fiber of my being, attempts like this to make even the military appear to be political actors.

Respecting a commander isn’t a political statement.  Disrespect  is a heavy burden to carry into combat.

A bit of a dramatic headline, but, you know what, I’m in agreement.  I can’t think of a better President elect.  Let’s hope he continues in office.  All I can say is, Obama is not leaving fast enough.

Our military is not apolitical.  We had Mr Obama remove generals and admirals who dissented from his social experiments, leaving a bunch of cowed careerists who did nothing to maintain necessary policies.

Mr Trump, who attended a military secondary school, will be a welcome respite from America-hating Obama.

I cringe too, but not about the tweets or hair jokes.  I cringe because he is charging in like a bull, toppling the established, politically correct protocol and knocking over all the progressive mouthpieces like delicate teacups in a china shop, and they are all breaking.  I cringe because I am worried that they don’t view our country as a united Republic, like we were asked to do the last eight years, and will go to great lengths to cause trouble. I pray for courage, discernment, wisdom, protection and healthy doses of humility for Trump and all of the new incoming administration.

When Jeb! announced he was running, I was really angry.  Angry with the GOPe.  I was behind Ted 100%.  (I hope and pray that DJT nominates him for the SCOTUS.)  I thought, and still think, that Trump is a small man.

BUT…I have hopes.  I hope he continues to stand up the the lamestream media.  I hope he encourages his nominees to reduce the size of the government.  I hope he fully supports our allies like Britain, Israel, Poland, and Taiwan.  I hope he stands up to Russia, China and Iran and diminishes their influence in the world.  I hope he calls out the Republicans in Congress when they do stupid things like they did on the ethics thing.  I hope he keeps them focused on fixing and reducing the hobnail bootprint of government on our lives.

We will wait and see.  He has made a good start as POTUS Elect.  He has a lot of work ahead.  I pray for his success.

I guess you never saw the disdain and contempt Obama showed the military, and the looks on some of their faces as he passed by, barely raising his hand toward his face in a phony salute. The Military was always of good character and professional, Obama is a piece of slime. Sorry you think my statement was horrible, but I have 3 members of my family currently in the military, several ex, and several dead. The live ones are thrilled The Trump will be their commander in chief.

I would prefer that the leftists in the government learn humility first. Then once that’s firmly established over a significant period of time maybe our side can go back to its normal humility.

Hard to feign enthusiasm.  I saw the difference while in the military between Carter and Reagan.  Military were enthusiastic to have Reagan as their leader.

It wasn’t the military performing disrespectfully, it was the commander in chief. Strange you are trying to make my remarks as a slur against the military in favor of the POS ex POTUS.

That’s because that is what I assert it is, I am pleased it wasn’t too subtle.

Some people like to laud the military but insult them by describing their politics as monolithic or their professionalism as biased towards their politics.

I don’t suppose it would occur to you that the Marines chosen to guard the president do their job with enthusiasm no matter who their president is.

That blind partisanship and the assignation to others is tragic.   And dangerous.   If the people cannot trust the military to be apolitical then we are soon going to be a banana republic.

There is a certain type of person who is simultaneously groundbreaking and terrifying.  The same characteristics that enable someone to completely overcome whatever barriers “normal” people face are the same ones that make that person just a little bit scary.  It’s great to have someone who doesn’t feel constrained by normal social stigma or “this is how we always do things” when you desperately need something to get done.  But then there’s that “Holy [expletive], this person just totally ignores normal social convention” fear.

Incidentally, that is also why I so loathe the over-the-top freak-out in response to President Trump.  With a personality like that, it’s particularly important to save the freak-out for when it actually matters.

Great post!  Face it, everybody: –this guy is the best thing that ever happened to us!!  And we, the smart, articulate supporters, have to start speaking and writing,  in droves,  about how pleased we are, and why–or we’ll be drowned out by the MSM which has openly declared war on Trump.    (Remember truth is the first casualty of war.)   This man is beginning by doing what he said he would do.  His inauguration speech was a reiteration of his campaign promises, not a backing away.

“Yours is the aim to make this grand country grander–

This you will do, it’s our strong, firm belief.

Hail to the one we have chosen as commander!

HAIL TO THE PRESIDENT! HAIL TO THE CHIEF!!”
